Tesla Sells A Record-High Number Of China-Made Vehicles In June

July 8, 2022 by www.chiangraitimes.com

(CTN News) – As the U.S. carmaker ramped up production which had been hit by Shanghai’s Covid-19 lockdown in June, Tesla achieved its highest monthly sales of Chinese-made vehicles since opening its Shanghai plant in 2019. The China Passenger Car Association reported that Tesla sold 78,906 China-made vehicles in June, including 968 for export. It sold 32,165 vehicles and exported 22,340 in May. Cui Dongshu, CPCA secretary-general, said Tesla also achieved the highest monthly output at its Shanghai plant in June. Tesla’s new factories in Berlin and Texas struggled to increase production after covid restrictions in Shanghai in the April-June quarter. Musk had urged staff to work harder after China’s zero-Covid lockdown caused deeper disruptions to output than he had anticipated at the end of the “very tough” quarter. Model 3s and Model Ys are produced at the Shanghai plant, which reopened on April 19. China’s passenger car sales rose 22% in June from a … [Read more...] about Tesla Sells A Record-High Number Of China-Made Vehicles In June

Japanese technology investment firm SoftBank Group Corp. lost more than $23 billion dollars in the second quarter of 2022, according to The Wall Street Journal. The massive losses have already led to a pivot in investment strategy, with subsidiary Vision Fund approving only $600 million in new investments during the first quarter, $20 billion less than the same time last year, according to Reuters . Jack Ma Is Criticized For Endorsing 12-Hour Days, Six Days A Week — But He’s Right About One Thing

April 16, 2019 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin (AP Photo/Susan Walsh, File) Jack Ma, the billionaire founder of Alibaba, has come under fire for his views on the controversial practice known as "996." This number refers to Ma’s belief that everyone in his company should happily work from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week. From his earliest days in the late '90s, Ma preached to a small scrappy group of employees that they must emulate the “hard-working spirit of Silicon Valley” to compete against them. “If we go to work at 8 a.m. and go home at 5 p.m., this is not a high-tech company.” His message is the same today: "I personally think that 996 is a huge blessing," he said. "How do you achieve the success you want without paying extra effort and time?" Ma added that the real 996 is not overtime work. He declared that everyone does have the right to choose. However, that option may be frowned upon in the eyes of management. He chastises those who … [Read more...] about Jack Ma Is Criticized For Endorsing 12-Hour Days, Six Days A Week — But He’s Right About One Thing

Nasdaq rises over 1% as dip in yields supports megacaps

August 9, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A NEW YORK/BENGALURU (Aug 8): The Nasdaq led US stock indexes higher on Monday, as a pullback in Treasury yields boosted megacap growth stocks after last week's blockbuster jobs data sparked a tech selloff on expectations of sharp rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. The focus this week will be on consumer prices data on Wednesday. The S&P 500 has bounced back 13% from its mid-June lows, but investors fear that signs of persistent inflation this week could further bolster the Fed's case for aggressive monetary policy tightening. "While it's clear the Fed needs to continue tightening policy, there are still about six weeks until the next meeting and we remind investors that economic data can change very quickly," said Robert Schein, chief investment officer at Blanke Schein Wealth Management. "The CPI data will help to confirm if the Fed's tightening efforts have been successful in starting to tame inflation or if continued Fed tightening is needed." … [Read more...] about Nasdaq rises over 1% as dip in yields supports megacaps

Could Overlooked Factors Make The JetBlue/Spirit Merger A Success?

August 8, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin So far, the announced $3.8 billion merger agreement between JetBlue and Spirit Airline s has not set the airline world on fire. The threat of the Department of Justice killing the deal because of competitive issues, along with the disastrous performance of all the airlines (more than 100,000 flights cancelled as of July 16) are leading concerns. Wall Street seems underwhelmed. JetBlue stock traded around $8.30 a share on August 1 when the deal was announced. It closed out the week at $8.68, near the bottom of its 52-week range of $7.87 to $16.64. To add insult to injury, prominent Wall Street airline industry analyst Helane Becker of Cowen reduced her price target for Jet Blue, from $14 to $10. Bank of America Securities kept a Hold rating on JetBlue witha price target of $10. Analyst consensus was a Hold with an average price target of $8.75, a seven-cent gain from today’s levels. Ouch. But could factors like … [Read more...] about Could Overlooked Factors Make The JetBlue/Spirit Merger A Success?
