NextEra Energy’s Stock To Likely Rebound After Falling 11% Over Ten Days

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin NextEra Energy Inc. stock (NYSE: NEE), a provider of electricity-related energy services, has declined by 11% over the last ten trading days (two weeks) and currently stands at around $74. Its principal subsidiary, FPL, is a rate-regulated utility engaged primarily in the generation, distribution, transmission, and sale of electric energy. Investors were underwhelmed by NextEra’s results and outlook for 2023. While Q4 operating revenue grew to $6.16 billion (up from $5.05 billion in the year-ago period), it missed analysts’ expectations for $6.3 billion in revenue. However, adjusted earnings grew by 24% year-over-year (y-o-y) to $0.51 per share and were above analyst expectations of $0.49 per share. Looking ahead, the company mentioned that it will continue growing at a healthy rate for a utility, albeit at a slower pace than last year. It anticipates adjusted earnings to rise in the range of $2.98 to $3.13 per share this year, … [Read more...] about NextEra Energy’s Stock To Likely Rebound After Falling 11% Over Ten Days

Strong Labor Market Lends Itself To More Fed Hikes, But Not For Long

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Friday’s amazing job numbers — which continue to hit it out of the park — mean that no matter how often Wall Street talks itself into a Fed rate pause, it’s not going to happen any time soon. Barring a crash in commodity prices, inflation will need to fall to 5% before the Fed hits the brakes. “The fed will hate this set of numbers,” says Brian McCarthy, head of investment research firm Macrolens in Stamford, Conn. “January payrolls are always wonky due to annual revisions and an extreme seasonal adjustment, but with both hourly earnings and hours worked also looking much more robust than we were led to believe last month, there is no denying a picture of continued strength in the labor market, which is at odds with a gathering stream of layoff announcements.” The Federal Reserve already raised interest rates a quarter-point this week, its eighth hike since March . Those hikes, of course, could help slow the economy. … [Read more...] about Strong Labor Market Lends Itself To More Fed Hikes, But Not For Long

Will CVS Health Stock Rise Post Q4 Results?

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) is scheduled to report its Q4 2022 results on Wednesday, February 8. We expect CVS stock to trade sideways post the results announcement, with Q4 revenue likely falling marginally below and earnings aligning with the consensus estimates. While we expect the company to post steady growth for its healthcare and pharmacy services businesses, higher costs and lower contributions from the Covid-19 vaccine administration likely weighed on its overall performance. Although we expect CVS to report a mixed Q4, CVS stock looks undervalued, as discussed below. Our interactive dashboard analysis on CVS Health’s Earnings Preview has additional details. (1) Revenue expected to be marginally below the consensus estimates Trefis estimates CVS’ Q4 2022 revenues to be around $76.0 billion, reflecting no growth, and it compares with the $76.2 billion consensus estimate. Starbucks Stock Drops After Massive Decline In China Sales

February 2, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Starbucks’ stock slid Thursday afternoon after the company missed its quarterly revenue estimate, in part because of an immense drop in sales across China as the country grappled with tight lockdowns followed by a renewed surge in the spread of the virus, resulting in reduced commerce that hurt retail businesses across the country—one of Starbucks’ largest markets. Key Facts The company reported $8.71 billion in quarterly revenue, setting a new record but falling short of Wall Street’s $8.78 billion estimate. Sales in North America rose 10% but tumbled 13% internationally, largely due to an eye-popping 28% decline in China. Starbucks also missed on earnings per share, reporting 75 cents after analysts expected 77 cents. The company’s share price declined more than 3% in after-hours trading to $105.81. 2023 Value Stock Picks: Fed Punching A Hole In The Punch Bowl

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Roughly 11 months ago marked the launch point for the Federal Reserve’s tightening cycle, adding over four full percentage points to its target for the Federal Funds rate since March 2022 to a current upper bound of 4.75%. Notably, the level is the highest for the benchmark since September 2007, with the pace of Fed tightening virtually unprecedented. No doubt, many think the Federal Reserve hiking the Fed Funds rate should be a big headwind for equities, but seven decades of returns data show that stocks in general have performed admirably on average, both concurrent with and subsequent to increases (as well as decreases) in the Fed Funds rate. This is the case over 3-, 6-, and 12-month time spans, with Value Stocks leading the charge no matter the direction. Anticipation of significantly tighter monetary policy spurred higher rates across the various maturities of the yield curve. Of course, moves back into … [Read more...] about 2023 Value Stock Picks: Fed Punching A Hole In The Punch Bowl

Select Adani stocks rebound as bears cover, but Street still wary

February 3, 2023 by www.moneycontrol.com

Key Adani group stocks, led by flagship Adani Enterprises, rebounded on February 3 on likely covering of positions by short sellers. There were unconfirmed reports that the beleaguered group managed to get fund commitments from some Middle East investors. But most stocks from the Adani stable remained under pressure, with as many as six hitting the lower end of the intra-day circuit filter. At the close, Adani stocks had shed $111 billion in market capitalisation in eight trading sessions since Hindenburg Research published a scathing report on the group’s governance practices. This contrasted with the upbeat mood in the market as the benchmark indices rose over 1 percent on February 3. Adani Enterprises ended 1.4 percent higher over its previous close at Rs 1,586.80, after almost slipping into three digits earlier. Theoretically, those who bought the stock at the day’s low of Rs 1,017.45 and still holding it would have made an over 50 percent profit. However, the outlook … [Read more...] about Select Adani stocks rebound as bears cover, but Street still wary

February 4, 2023 by www.chiangraitimes.com

(CTN News) – Even Amazon Stock cloud business is struggling. (AMZN -7.69%) Amazon’s crown jewel looks tarnished. Cloud infrastructure juggernaut Amazon Web Services posted its slowest growth ever in the fourth quarter. In Q4 2021, AWS revenue grew just 20%, down from 27% in the third quarter and 40% in Q4 2021. It’s not entirely surprising, since CFO Brian Olsavsky warned about headwinds in AWS on the third-quarter earnings call, and Q4 revenue guidance predicted just 2% to 8% growth in AWS. Despite beating expectations, Amazon Stock Q4 revenue rose 9% to $149.2 billion. Earnings per share were $0.03, including a mark-to-market loss on its Rivian investment . $0.17 EPS was predicted by analysts. Revenue growth in the first quarter was predicted at 4% to 8%. Here’s How Uber Shares Typically Trade After Earnings

February 4, 2023 by www.investopedia.com

Uber Technologies Inc. ( UBER ) is expected to report fourth-quarter 2022 earnings on 02/08/2023, and the market’s initial reaction could be volatile. Over the past 12 quarters, Uber's adjusted EPS has beat consensus expectations five times, but the stock rose the next day on only two of those occasions. Its average post-earnings move of +2.66%, masks a nearly 9% drop in May 2021 when it beat expectations and an 18.9% gain in August 2022 when it missed estimates by 400%. Clearly, an earnings beat or miss is not the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower immediately after earnings are released. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors, such as a poor outlook on future growth expectations, non-profit factors like DAUs (tech companies), load factors (airlines), etc. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts, like positive forward guidance or even oversold market conditions leading up to earnings can help a stock’s price … [Read more...] about Here’s How Uber Shares Typically Trade After Earnings
