Artist Gene Palusky struggled financially in the early 1980s to make a living off his passion for creating ceramic sculptures. So, the handy Macalester College grad started repairing old properties. Palusky moved into a house in Minneapolis' Bryn Mawr neighborhood in 1987, renovated it and made a few thousand bucks on the sale two years later. He made $13,000 on the next one, after five months of ownership. There were others. He bought, renovated and operated apartment buildings. He grossed a few million bucks when he sold his rental properties a couple of years ago. "I lost interest in making money," said Palusky, 62, who grew up modestly in Eveleth on the Iron Range. "I have everything I want and enough for the rest of my life. I don't need another million dollars." Palusky lives comfortably with his family in a nice house in an old Edina neighborhood. Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Electricity Vietnam’s Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) has announced that it plans to invest over 7.3 trillion VND (317 million USD) in a power grid in the central and Central Highland provinces this year. Of the figure, 215.6 billion VND will be from the State budget, over 3.1 trillion VND is its own capital, more than 998.3 billion VND is foreign loans and the remaining is commercial loans. It will put into operation the first stage of a 10MW solar power plant in the south central province of Khanh Hoa in June 2019 and the whole plant in August 2019, and the second and third stage of a solar roof tile project in the first and second quarter this year, respectively. By Stephen Jewkes and Pamela Barbaglia MILAN/LONDON (Reuters) - Italian power grid operator Terna has hired Spanish bank Santander to scout investors that could plough cash into its transmission businesses in Brazil, Peru and Uruguay, four sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. Terna could raise 200 million to 300 million euros from the process, two of the sources said. The process kicked off recently and aims to raise funds to help Terna strengthen its footprint in Latin America, the sources said. Terna and Santander declined to comment. Italy's state-controlled power transmitter ranks as one of the world's biggest power grid players with a market value of 10 billion euros (9 billion pounds). But it heavily relies on the Italian market where it makes most of its money from returns set by the regulator to help it improve the country's high voltage transmission grid.
