30 Executives’ Perspectives On Remote, Hybrid, And In-Office Work

Franklin Templeton is here to stay in India, we are hiring and getting ready to launch new funds: Sanjay Sapre
Sanjay Sapre is the current President of Franklin Templeton India. His term ends in July 2022. Late evening on April 23, 2020, Sanjay Sapre , president of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Ltd, made probably, one of the most awkward public announcements in his life—that of winding up six of the fund house’s marquee debt funds. These were all open-ended debt funds and weren’t meant to be shut down. Franklin Templeton believed that by winding up the schemes, it would buy the fund house time to sell its illiquid securities once market conditions improved. At the time, the COVID-19 global pandemic was declared, equity markets had fallen sharply and the debt market had frozen. Debt fund investors rushed to take their money out and fund houses everywhere saw redemptions. Franklin Templeton India was the worst affected because it had been running a high-yield strategy across six of its debt schemes, totaling assets worth Rs 25,215 crore as of April 23, 2020. 14-year-old girl’s suicide investigated
PHATTHALUNG: Satri Phatthalung School is investigating the factors that drove a 14-year-old female student to suicide, after a close friend pointed to the girl's dire financial situation as being the main reason. The last straw is said to have been the advice of a student counsellor who told the girl to give up studying at the school given her money problems, according to the friend. The girl texted several of her friends before she hanged herself last Thursday at her home, saying she wanted her death to be a message for the school and her family that things need to change. The story came to light when a popular Facebook page, Yak Dang Chat Hai Return Part 3 , published it, sparking a public outcry over the girl's suicide. Mali Kaeo-la-iat, the school's director, insisted help had been offered and it was a misunderstanding that led the girl to take her own life. Book Review: Gregory Forth’s ‘Between Ape And Human’
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin On September 2, 2003, in a cave on the island of Flores in Indonesia, a team of Australian and Indonesian archeologists discovered a tiny, nearly complete skeleton that looked like it might have been that of a dwarf-sized early human. Over the next year or so they recovered more skeletons and some parts of skeletons. By the year 2009, the count was up to fourteen individuals for whom archeologists had found whole or partial skeletal remains. Because many stone blades were also found and the fauna population of Flores includes no non-human primates, the scientists entertained the idea that the organic remains found beginning in 2003 are indeed those of creatures that were somewhat sentient. Initially, scientists pronounced all of the skeletal remains as being around 12,000 years old. Later, the estimate has been revised upwards. Some seem to be as much as 100,000 years old. The youngest remains are believed to be about 60,000 … [Read more...] about Book Review: Gregory Forth’s ‘Between Ape And Human’
Online diary: Buffalo gunman plotted attack for months
By CAROLYN THOMPSON, MICHAEL R. SISAK and ERIC TUCKER BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The white gunman accused of massacring 10 Black people at a Buffalo supermarket wrote as far back as November about staging a livestreamed attack on African Americans, practiced shooting from his car and traveled hours from his home in March to scout out the store, according to detailed diary entries he appears to have posted online. The keeper of the diary posted hand-drawn maps of the grocery store along with tallies of the number of Black people he counted there, and recounted how a Black security guard at the supermarket confronted him that day to ask what he was up to. A Black security guard was among the dead in Saturday’s shooting rampage. The diary taken from the chat platform Discord came to light two days after 18-year-old Payton Gendron allegedly opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle at the Tops Friendly Market. He was wearing body armor and used a helmet camera to livestream the bloodbath on … [Read more...] about Online diary: Buffalo gunman plotted attack for months
