During a keynote presentation at SXSW on Friday, Quibi cofounders Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman dropped more teasers about their new, short-form mobile video platform–which, they announced, is going to launch in April 2020. The pair have been making the rounds in Hollywood and Silicon Valley, drumming up investors and talent for Quibi, a $5-a-month subscription service that will take long-form TV and film content and break it up into bite-sized bits between six and 10 minutes long. During the talk, Katzenberg, the former DreamWorks Animation CEO, said that Quibi would launch 100 pieces of new content every week, and that he and Whitman, the former president and CEO of Hewlett Packard, had received over 2,000 submissions over the past couple of months. By Rolfe Winkler WSJ Fri., Feb. 15, 2019 Steve Jurvetson said his world came crashing down in the fall of 2017, after allegations surfaced of misconduct at the venture-capital firm he co-founded. Now the prominent investor is attempting a comeback, raising a new fund and defending himself while admitting to mistakes. Mr. Jurvetson said his new firm, Future Ventures, has raised $200 million for its first fund, which the 51-year-old will invest alongside business partner Maryanna Saenko, 30. The announcement comes 15 months after Mr. Jurvetson parted ways with the firm he co-founded, DFJ. At the venture-capital firm, formerly known as Draper Fisher Jurvetson, he was known for leading lucrative early investments in two companies founded by Elon Musk, electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors Inc. and rocket company Space Exploration Technologies.
