Biden’s Approval Rating Falls Again Amid Concerns About Economy, Poll Finds

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline President Joe Biden’s approval rating fell to 38% in March after hovering above 40% over the past few months, according to an AP-NORC poll, as Americans remained concerned about the president’s handling of the economy amid concerns about the financial health of the banking sector. Key Facts According to the poll, Biden’s approval rating as of March is just two points above his lowest approval rating of 36%, which was reported in July last year amid surging inflation and steep fuel prices. His latest rating is down markedly from 45% in February. People’s approval of his handling of the economy stands at only 31%—significantly lower than his overall approval rating. Democrats' opinion largely influenced that figure, with 63% approving of the way Biden has handled the economy—down from 66%—compared to an overall approval rating of 76% among Democratic voters. Republicans’ approval of … [Read more...] about Biden’s Approval Rating Falls Again Amid Concerns About Economy, Poll Finds

How An Entrepreneur Learned The Art Of The Pitch And Sold Her Startup For $275M

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Surbhi Sarna didn’t intend to become an entrepreneur when she faced a potential cancer diagnosis. As a high school student, she just hoped to survive. But Sarna’s cancer scare did change her life—and perhaps the lives of millions of others. After Sarna finished college, she started nVision Medical. She created a device she hoped would one day catch ovarian cancer in its early stages. She later sold the company to Boston Scientific for $275 million. That’s the short story. But, in the longer version, Sarna’s pitch was rejected by 50 investors. They were skeptical because Sarna didn’t have an MBA or a medical school degree. In other words, she didn’t check off all the right boxes. “I’ve been underrated and doubted my entire life,” Sarna told me during an interview about her new book, Without a Doubt . Sarna’s transformation from underrated to unbeatable offers valuable lessons for anyone with an idea to share or a … [Read more...] about How An Entrepreneur Learned The Art Of The Pitch And Sold Her Startup For $275M

Antisemitic Attacks Hit All-Time High In 2022, ADL Report Says

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Reports of antisemitic incidents in the United States hit record levels in 2022, the Anti-Defamation League said in a report published Thursday, continuing a five-year upswing in antisemitism amid mounting fears the behavior of influential public figures like Donald Trump and Kanye West are normalizing hate. Key Facts The ADL recorded 3,697 antisemitic incidents across the U.S. in 2022, the highest annual total since the organization started tracking incidents in 1979. The figure marks a 36% increase from the year before—itself a record-setting year—and follows a broad uptick in hate towards the American Jewish community over the past five years, three of which recorded record levels of antisemitic incidents. The report said no single factor was responsible for the surge in hate and five states— New York (580), California (518), New Jersey (408), Florida (269) and Texas (211)—collectively accounted … [Read more...] about Antisemitic Attacks Hit All-Time High In 2022, ADL Report Says

How The Federal Reserve Chair Got What He Wanted

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Yesterday’s announcement by Jerome Powell of the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates was the Washington equivalent of a circus performer walking a “tightrope between inflation and bank turmoil”as the Wall Street Journal put it. Washington and the financial sector held their breath: one false step could have led to disaster. In the result, Powell got both the headline he wanted “Federal Reserve presses ahead with quarter-point rate rise despite banking turmoil” ( Financial Times ) and a stock market decline in the S&P500 by almost 2%. As usual, there were two parts to the session. Powell began with a carefully prepared statement which portrayed the confident policy maker who had consulted the data and reached seemingly clear conclusions, albeit expressed in subtle shifts in phraseology from “ongoing increases in interest rates” to “policy firming.” It was followed by a frank Q&A session, which Powell … [Read more...] about How The Federal Reserve Chair Got What He Wanted

Public Relations During A Recession: What You Need To Know To Move Your Business Forward

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Victoria Kennedy is a Wall Street Journal best-selling author, TEDx speaker, and the CEO of Victorious PR . For some time now, economists have been speculating about the next recession, questioning whether 2023 will indeed be the year of the next economic downturn. Most believe that it’s likely to happen this year, so questions have shifted to “How long will it last?” Many consumers are paying more attention than ever to where they are spending their money. For this reason and many others, businesses need to ensure that they are seen as the best and most reputable. Naturally—and logically—this leads to informed discussions about strategy, sales, client retention, client relationships and so much more. While marketing might be the first thing that pops into a lot of business owners’ minds, the answer for many becomes public relations. Many view PR as a want, not a need, but with influencer marketing and … [Read more...] about Public Relations During A Recession: What You Need To Know To Move Your Business Forward

His wife doesn’t know about his ownership stakes, but hopefully by the end of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament his $19,000 investment will turn into $50,000. And then, he’ll let her know. “Right now, we’re on a heater,” he says of the March Madness run his teams are on. “We’re still in the red on paper, but I hope that will change quickly with a few wins.” Neal doesn’t technically own any team, of course, but the amateur sports gambler “bought” these college … [Read more...] about Inside A High-Stakes March Madness Calcutta
