- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 27): Emilia Hanafi, the former wife of well-known businessman Datuk SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin Kamal, was sent to Kajang Prison to serve a seven-day jail sentence starting Monday (June 27), for failing to comply with a Syariah High Court order on visitation dates for her three children. On Sept 4, 2019, the Syariah High Court sentenced Emilia to seven days in prison for contempt of court after her disobeying an order by unilaterally rescheduling the visitation dates for her children, aged 10 to 16, to be with their father SM Faisal. However, she was released on bail of RM5,000, pending appeal. Emilia, 43, in a white long dress and shawl, arrived at the Syariah Court here at 9.50am accompanied by her lawyer and family members. Singapore reports toddler Covid death, first under 12 years
- A + A (June 28): An one-and-a-half year-old toddler who was infected with Covid-19 died on Monday, marking Singapore’s first death caused by the virus in a patient under 12 years old, according to a statement from country’s Ministry of Health. The MOH reiterated its recommendation that all children aged 5 to 11 years should be vaccinated, especially if they have underlying chronic medical conditions. In a separate statement, the authority also urged people to take their vaccinations and boosters in preparation for a rise in Covid cases driven by new variants. Deputy prime minister Lawrence Wong said on Tuesday that the city-state cannot rule out tightening Covid-19 restrictions again as it faces a new surge in cases, the Straits Times reported. Hengyuan closed 35 sen or 7.74% higher at RM4.87 on volume of 2.61 million shares, much higher than the 200-day average volume of 1.4 million. Payments council urges RBI to treat full KYC prepaid instruments like bank accounts
Representative Image The Payments Council of India (PCI), the apex body of payments and settlement players in the country, has written to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requesting the regulator to treat Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs) with full Know Your Customer (KYC) done as equal to bank accounts. Moneycontrol could gain access to the representation which was sent to the RBI. The second ask in the letter was to allow non-revolving credit lines in full-KYC PPIs like wallets and prepaid cards. Non-revolving credit line means that the credit line is non-replenishable unless the customer is underwritten again for a new loan. "This will allow that a loan (given by a regulated lender) can be disbursed by the lender into a Full KYC PPI account," PCI noted in the letter.
