Why Actor And Filmmaker Edward Norton Wants To Be TV’s Data Oracle

May 20, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In 2014, the actor and his friend, the entrepreneur Daniel Nadler, founded EDO to compete for the last frontier of legacy media measurement. Now, investors are placing bets on startups that could win a slice of a $65 billion TV ad market. T he actor Edward Norton has played a lot of characters. He’s been an insomniac underground fighter. A private detective with Tourette syndrome. A border patrol captain and friend to the concierge at The Grand Budapest Hotel. An illusionist. A scout master. A chauffeur. A dog. The Hulk. A neo-Nazi. A Catholic priest. But here’s one role that would never make it into a Hollywood script: The cofounder of a startup challenging the status quo in the wonky world of TV measurement. In this case, however, the plot is real life. Norton is the cofounder of EDO (Entertainment Data Oracle), a data and analytics company that applies machine learning to how advertising is measured across … [Read more...] about Why Actor And Filmmaker Edward Norton Wants To Be TV’s Data Oracle

Facing Financial Fears In 2022

May 15, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin 2022 has given us plenty of reasons to fear for our financial health—inflation, rising interest rates, and a global conflict are the big three that have sent stock and bond markets into one of the more volatile stretches we’ve seen, at least since the initial shock of pandemic shutdowns roiled markets in 2020. However, as we look at each of these legitimate fears, there is some helpful context and even a bit of good news that puts it all in perspective: 1. The Russian Invasion of Ukraine The Russian invasion of Ukraine is brazened, unprovoked, and abhorrent—period. Yet the fear that it was intended to strike in the hearts of Ukrainians seems to have manifested more as resolute courage. Meanwhile, the remainder of the developed world seeks to wage financial war on the Russian state in order to punish it for its unjustifiable hostility and, above all, stop the fighting. The fear that the conflict could cause … [Read more...] about Facing Financial Fears In 2022

India in a relatively stronger position than many other countries: Finance secretary

May 13, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Finance Secretary TV Somanathan Despite rising prices of fertilisers and crude oil putting pressure on the economy, India is “in a relatively stronger position than many other countries”, finance secretary T V Somanathan told CNBC TV18 in an exclusive interview. “India is adversely less affected than others (countries) who are adversely more affected than us,” Somanathan said. He argued that India has at least escaped the global foodgrain crisis in the wake of the Ukraine-Russia war, owing to the large domestic production of wheat. Saying that higher fertiliser prices pose a difficulty, Somanathan said it will have a big fiscal impact. “The government has already announced its fertiliser subsidy for the forthcoming season. There is going to be a substantial increase in the budget for fertiliser subsidies. It will certainly be above Rs 2 lakh crore,” he said. On crude oil, he said that while prices are high, they haven’t climbed much in the last one month. “Over the last 30 … [Read more...] about India in a relatively stronger position than many other countries: Finance secretary

From the gourmet grilling connoisseur to the lazy cook to the guy who loves grilling but burns everything, here is something perfect for every father who cooks with gas, fire or smoke, at many different price points. Having written extensively on food, grilling and smoking for more than 20 years, I have personally tried, enjoyed and can enthusiastically recommend every single one of these providers. Best All Around: I love Allen Brothers , the venerable Chicago butcher shop - since 1893 and the city’s stockyards days - that supplies many top steakhouses across the nation and has been doing mail order meat for a long time. While justifiably famous for their steaks, from thick T-bones to tomahawks, you cannot beat them for one stop shopping. April 24, 2022 by edition.cnn.com

(CNN) The bloodshed over Easter weekend was emblematic of the alarming and unabated surge in gun violence in the United States.
