People who are affected by infertility do have options to try, but in vitro fertilization (IVF) and the diagnostics, medication, surgery, and other treatments can be expensive. In some cases, medical insurance will cover many of the costs, but in other cases it won't. On a global scale, 15% of reproductive-aged couples are impacted by infertility around the world, according to World Health Organization (WHO) estimates. The majority of people affected by infertility (including men, women, LGBTQ couples, and single people), will pay out-of-pocket . Depending on the treatment, out-of-pocket costs can easily reach thousands of dollars. Some states have laws that require insurance companies to cover treatment for infertility, but the laws vary. Here, we'll explain how state laws affect insurance coverage for fertility treatment in more detail. Why Norway euthanised a walrus that attracted crowds of spectators
(Image credit: @HughHarrop/Twitter) A walrus nicknamed Freya that attracted crowds while basking in the sun of the Oslo fjord was euthanised, Norway officials said on Sunday. "The decision to euthanise was taken on the basis of a global evaluation of the persistent threat to human security," the head of Norway's Fisheries Directorate Frank Bakke-Jensen said in a statement. "We carefully examined all the possible solutions. We concluded that we could not guarantee the well-being of the animal by any of the means available," he said. Officials had previously said they were considering euthanasia for the mammal because repeated appeals to the public to keep their distance from the young female weighing 600 kilograms (1,300 pounds) had been in vain. Freya, whose name is a reference to the Norse goddess of beauty and love, had made headlines since July 17 when she was first spotted in the waters of the Norwegian capital. Airbnb has a new ‘anti-party’ technology to spot possible troublemakers
Airbnb has a new system to identify possible rule-breakers at the time of booking. (Representational image), Airbnb has rolled out new technology in the United States and Canada to prevent unauthorised parties at its properties. It will help the vacation rentals company spot "high-risk reservations" and block them from making bookings. Airbnb had in June announced a permanent ban on parties at its rental locations. The company began its crackdown on parties in 2019 after a fatal incident of shooting in California. Now, it has rolled out new tools to enforce its no-party policy. Airbnb's new technology will look at factors like "history of positive reviews (or lack of positive reviews), length of time the guest has been on Airbnb, length of the trip, distance to the listing, weekend vs. weekday" before confirming bookings. "This anti-party technology is designed to prevent a reservation attempt from going through," the company said in a statement on August 16, … [Read more...] about Airbnb has a new ‘anti-party’ technology to spot possible troublemakers

Does Mark Zuckerberg Not Understand How Bad His Metaverse Looks?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Mark Zuckerberg has once again been roasted on Twitter, not over barbecue sauce or surfing this time. On Tuesday, he posted a screenshot from Horizon Worlds on Facebook celebrating the game’s release in France and Spain. The image shows Mark’s dead-eyed Avatar standing in an empty landscape populated only by a small version of the Eiffel Tower and Spain’s unfinished Sagrada Familia. The image made “Second Life” trend on Twitter for a while yesterday, with people saying it somehow looked worse than the decades-old life sim. I made the comment that this is what Mark Zuckerberg is trying to do with his metaverse on the same day Fortnite introduced its megapopular crossover with Dragon Ball Z, bolstering its much more fun, better-looking version of the concept. The thing is, this happens all the time with Zuckerberg and his metaverse because Horizon Worlds has looked terrible since its inception and has barely … [Read more...] about Does Mark Zuckerberg Not Understand How Bad His Metaverse Looks?
The Key ‘Destiny 2’ Arc 3.0 Changes You Need To Know About
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Yesterday, Bungie listened to fans and went back to talking about its big Destiny 2 subclass changes early, rather than just dropping them in the live game like they did with Solar 3.0. With Arc 3.0’s reveal , while we didn’t get every single damage value, cooldown and fragment, we got a ton of information, and I figured it was probably wise to make an “Arc 3.0 for dummies” post here to sum up some of the most important things that were revealed. KEYWORDS – All the new subclasses have buff and debuff keywords that are key to how the aspects and fragments function. Arc is unique in that it has one separate from all of those. Amplified – All Guardians can get this buff when defeating multiple enemies with arc damage. This boosts your speed (twice, if you keep sprinting) and weapon handling, and will feed into other triggers through aspects and fragments. You also gain damage resistance while sprinting in PvE and it … [Read more...] about The Key ‘Destiny 2’ Arc 3.0 Changes You Need To Know About
Thailand News Today | Thais more relaxed about Covid-19
A survey conducted by the Department of Health Service Support revealed that Thai people are a bit more relaxed about Covid, though still not as relaxed as many parts of the world. These results came from comparing the data from the first round of surveys conducted between March 5 to 31 with 113,847 respondents, and the latest round between July 1 to 20 with 28,487 respondents. The survey revealed that Thai people were about 4% more likely to engage in higher-risk activities than previously while there is an 11% decline in mask-wearing. The department believes the survey indicates Thai people are engaging in more physical contact due to relaxed social distancing and masking measures. Despite the latest findings, the Ministry of Public Health still encourages the general public to observe Covid safety protocol. Just over 771% of Thailand’s population has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus with two shots while about 45% have had at least one booster dose … [Read more...] about Thailand News Today | Thais more relaxed about Covid-19
