The ex-showroom price of the company's model range will increase by up to 5 per cent from April 1, 2023, the company said. Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Santosh Iyer told PTI that the company has been tracking the Euro and the Rupee has depreciated against it in the past few months. "In October it (Euro) was around 78-79 (to a Rupee) and now it is at 87. Daily Voice | Why this investment professional bets on renewables and stays bullish on defence stocks
Santosh Joseph of Refolio Investments Renewables has to be a global theme because it just cannot be that one country will invest in renewables and the other countries won't. I guess this theme will be more systemic across the board theme, Santosh Joseph, CEO and Founder of Refolio Investments says in an interview to Moneycontrol . Coming to defence, there is a reason to believe that while renewables is a global theme, even defence is a good domestic theme that has a long runway, he said. Santosh, a financial services professional with over 20 years of experience in asset management, banking and insurance, thinks one of the most important and fundamental headwinds for the government is any significant drop in earnings. Do you think the recovery in IT stocks may be longer if Fed remains hawkish this calendar year? With the Fed remaining hawkish and this is more likely to continue for a good part of the year 2023, the IT stocks will have a bit of a challenge. But I … [Read more...] about Daily Voice | Why this investment professional bets on renewables and stays bullish on defence stocks
The fading art of playing spin
File photo of Indian cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in action. Watching a pair of express quicks putting batsmen through the wringer can spark an adrenaline rush, but no sight on a cricket field is more compelling than two world-class spinners testing resolve, character and technique over a sustained period of time, and especially on an even slightly responsive surface. The experience is so intense that by the end of a day’s play, even the audience is mentally fatigued, having drawn on reservoirs of concentration and focus, what with each ball being an event in itself. As recently as a decade and a bit back, India boasted the finest line-up of exceptional players of the turning ball. The names roll off the tongue with practised ease. Virender Sehwag. Gautam Gambhir. Rahul Dravid. Sachin Tendulkar. VVS Laxman. Sourav Ganguly. Each had a different method, each employed a different tack but the opposition knew that these virtuosos had to be prised out, that the turning ball held no … [Read more...] about The fading art of playing spin
Dalal Street Week Ahead: 10 key factors that will keep traders busy
Indian equity benchmarks succumbed to selling pressure in the week ended February 24, plummeting more than 2.5 percent. This was the biggest weekly fall in last eight months, as the investor sentiment was dampened by weak global cues and FII outflow. Hawkish commentary by Fed officials and strong economic data signaling continuity of interest rate hike cycle for a longer period than market thinks to bring inflation under control, with spike in US dollar index and bond yields, and resurgence of cold war between US & Russia weighed on sentiment. During the week, the BSE Sensex fell more than 1,500 points to close at 59,464, while the Nifty50 lost 478 points to settle at 17,466, the lowest closing level since October 17 last year, wiping out all previous three-week's gains. With selling across sectors, both these indices reached closer to Budget day's low. The broader markets also traded under pressure with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices declining 1.8 percent … [Read more...] about Dalal Street Week Ahead: 10 key factors that will keep traders busy
The Spectrum Of IT Partnerships
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Vendors sell software. Enterprise technology vendors build software applications, suites, operating systems, tools and platforms in order to clinch sales deals with customers who pay them for their products, services and ongoing support and maintenance. The vendor is the seller and the purchasing organization is the customer. It’s that simple. Except not always. Some software vendors like to label the sales deal they strike with their customers as a ‘partnership’ these days. It’s a way for vendors to tell us that their customers are at the center of what they do and that their users’ operational roadmaps unequivocally dictate the way the software products they build are developed. In fairness, a good enterprise software vendor does shape its tools to the roadmap of its customers, but does the act of labelling vendor-buyer relationships as a partnership go too far into fawning familiarity? It’s probably not as marketing … [Read more...] about The Spectrum Of IT Partnerships
Nifty breaks 200 DMA & Budget day’s low, but experts hopeful for reversal if 17,300 holds
The Nifty was trading deep in the red on February 27 afternoon as the market remained under pressure for the seventh consecutive session, weighed down by auto, technology, FMCG, metal, pharma and oil & gas stocks. The index broke the budget day's low of 17,353, which coincides with the 200-day moving average (DMA), suggesting more selling pressure. Experts, however, said that the index manages to hold 17,300, a rebound towards 17,500-17,600 is possible. If the reversal comes, there could be a double bottom pattern formation (bullish reversal pattern) and the uptrend may get extended, experts said. At 2.53 pm, the index was trading 112 points, or 0.64 percent, down at 17,353.60, taking the loss to around 750 points from February's high. "The Nifty has been trading in the Budget Day range since almost a month and the breakdown of the range coupled with consecutive closes below the 200-EMA (exponential moving average - 17,590) definitely spells more downside," Viraj … [Read more...] about Nifty breaks 200 DMA & Budget day’s low, but experts hopeful for reversal if 17,300 holds
Seven historic moments in 100 years of India’s radio broadcast
Bombay Presidency Radio Club, Mumbai. A hundred years ago, a small group of hobbyists and enthusiasts in Mumbai got together to launch India’s first radio station. Powered by a small, low-range transmitter, the Bombay Presidency Radio Club started broadcasting in June 1923 and was soon followed by the Calcutta Radio Club in November that year. These — including the Madras radio club, founded in 1924 — were amateur efforts, broadcasting snippets of news and pre-recorded concerts for a few hours a week. But they heralded the dawn of India’s radio age: an era where the radio waves became the primary means of national communication, connecting a billion people spread across the vast subcontinent. When these clubs were liquidated due to financial pressures a few years later, the Indian state stepped in. The British government in India set up the Indian Broadcasting Service in 1930, which was later renamed All India Radio in 1936 (the Akashvani moniker would come in 1957.) AIR — along … [Read more...] about Seven historic moments in 100 years of India’s radio broadcast
