How Tech Startups And Corporations Can Avail Each Other
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Yura Lazebnikov, an investor, entrepreneur and expert in technology industries, IT and esports. The Managing Partner of TECHIIA Holding. Interactions between a startup and a corporation can speed up the development of both. I've found it can also harm a startup. I want to remind young teams to consider the perspective of corporations. You need to choose the right way to interact to boost your product and avoid worst-case scenarios. For the purposes of this article, a startup is a tech company with an innovative product, at least a few customers and revenue. It offers a fundamentally new solution to a problem. Often, startups have ten to twenty mobile and flexible employees. A person with a laptop working from coffee shops may well be the founder of such a company. Sometimes a startup is also a group of students who write code for some application in their spare time. I am not discussing this case here. EU’s Ban On Russian Diesel To Stoke Turmoil In Global Fuel Markets
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Gasoline prices are rising again – up more than 30 cents a gallon in the past month and around 15 cents in the last two weeks alone. Motorists should brace for more pain. One reason is that the global market for refined products is about to be upended by the latest European Union (EU) sanctions on Russia’s petroleum industry. On February 5, the EU will ban imports of Russian refined products like diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, and heating oil. While global oil markets have recently handled a similar ban on Russian crude imports quite well, these product sanctions could be far more disruptive. Markets for refined fuels are much more complex than for crude, with refineries configured to process certain types of feedstock crudes and to manufacture varying slates of products, depending on regional demand patterns. The issue for Europe is that it relies on Russia for about 40 percent of its refined product imports and … [Read more...] about EU’s Ban On Russian Diesel To Stoke Turmoil In Global Fuel Markets

Ukraine wins EU pledges of support, no promise of fast-track accession
Ukraine The European Union offered strong support for Ukraine at a summit held in Kyiv as air raid sirens wailed on Friday, but set "no rigid timelines" for its accession to the wealthy bloc. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had hoped the EU would put Ukraine on a rapid road to membership. But he used the summit to step up calls for his allies to deliver long-range weapons to help repel Russian forces besieging the city of Bakhmut and occupying much of the Donbas region in the east of the country. "If weapons (supplies) are quickened, specifically long-range weapons, we not only will not leave Bakhmut, but we will also begin to deoccupy Donbas, which has been occupied since 2014," he told a joint news conference after the summit. Ukrainian forces have held out for months in Bakhmut, where fighting has been fierce. "Nobody will give away Bakhmut. We will fight for as long as we can. We consider Bakhmut our fortress," Zelenskiy said. Read More Air raid sirens … [Read more...] about Ukraine wins EU pledges of support, no promise of fast-track accession
Up to IOC to decide if Russia can compete in Paris 2024, says Paris Olympic head
(Representative Image: AP) The head of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Tony Estanguet said on Friday it was for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to decide whether Russian and Belarusian athletes can participate in the Games next year. Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged the governing body to ban them from the sporting extravaganza, stating that allowing Russia to compete at the Games was tantamount to showing that "terror is somehow acceptable". Three-time Olympic champion and President of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee Estanguet told Reuters that he was "in favour of maintaining this symbol of universality for the Games" when asked about Russian and Belarusian participation. Yet he said the decision rested with the Games' governing body. "It's not in the charge of Paris 2024 to decide who is allowed to participate, it's about the IOC, it's about the IPC, it's about the international federations who will decide which delegations … [Read more...] about Up to IOC to decide if Russia can compete in Paris 2024, says Paris Olympic head
Segregated ‘Queer’ Housing Coming For Haverford College
A new kind of segregated dorm will soon appear at Haverford College. “Queer designated housing” will arrive in time for the Fall semester at the Lancaster, Pennsylvania academic institution according to Campus Reform . Qui Alexander, the director of the Haverford Women’s Center at the Lancaster, Pennsylvania academic institution, was interviewed by the college’s newspaper, The Haverford Clerk . She described “QHouse” as a “refuge (home) for all LGBTQ students by its commitment to support, safety, intersectionality, joy, and interdependence,” suggesting that “many LGBTQ people struggle with the concept of being their whole selves at home.” QHouse didn’t happen overnight, with proponents of the segregated housing first demanding separate but equal space in 2015. They first wanted to turn an existing college-owned house into segregated housing, but were disappointed to learn that they couldn’t do that without “community-wide conversation and demonstrated support.” But just … [Read more...] about Segregated ‘Queer’ Housing Coming For Haverford College

There’s No Monument To Women On The National Mall. These Lawmakers Aim To Change That
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Women are missing from the National Mall—a monument to them, at least—but Congress is trying to change that. Democrats Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Rep. Joe Neguse and Republicans Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Rep. Debbie Lesko plan to introduce a bill that would pave the way for a monument to honor the early fight for women's equality in America. It follows 2020 legislation sanctioning such a monument on federal lands in Washington D.C. Now, Congress needs to authorize placement on the National Mall. The bipartisan, bicameral group is targeting early March for the filing of the “Women's Suffrage National Monument Location Act” to coincide with Women’s History Month. Ahead of that deadline, they are hoping to enlist major support from their colleagues—specifically, the endorsement of every woman currently serving in Congress. Sen.
