Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A survey of startups and scale-ups suggests transparency on remuneration reduces gender pay gaps. Is this merely a nice to know, or something entrepreneurs should be addressing as they grow their businesses? There was a time - back in some deep and distant past - when everyone within an organisation knew what their peers were earning. OK, perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration. But if you go back twenty or thirty years and looked at the practices of big employers in particular, jobs were classified in terms of skills required, their position within the corporate hierarchy and seniority. Within each band, everyone got paid more or less the same, give-or-take incremental payments reflecting length of service. This was particularly true in unionized workplaces and the public sector. But the workplace has changed, pay structures are less rigid and employees - some of them at least - may be paid significantly different … [Read more...] about Out In The Open: Should Startups And Scaleups Embrace Pay Transparency?

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In a move that stunned the football world, the entire Juventus management resigned on Monday night. Issuing a lengthy public statement, the Italian club announced that every member of the board of directors would leave due to on-going financial investigations. Those relinquishing their positions include Chairman Andrea Agnelli whose family have owned the club for almost 100 years, as well as Vice President Pavel Nedved and CEO Maurizio Arrivabene. A statement on the official Juventus website noted that “given the centrality and the relevance of the pending legal and technical/accounting matters, considered in the best interest of the Company that Juventus provided itself with a new Board of Directors to address these matters.” The same statement revealed that while Arrivabene would relinquish his powers as a director, he would remain in place as CEO but Maurizio Scanavino would be appointed immediately to act as … [Read more...] about Entire Juventus Board Resigns: What Is Happening At Italy’s Biggest Club
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin For years, the Dallas Mavericks have tried building a sustainable system of shot-makers and defenders around Luka Dončić, with varying results. Last season's visit to the Western Conference Finals represented the furthest the franchise had gone in the Dončić era. Despite the success of last year, however, the Mavericks now seem stuck in the mud. While Dončić is enjoying a career-year, posting 33.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists, the Mavericks are 9-10 and sit in 11th place in the Western Conference, outside even the play-in picture. Some might point to the loss of Jalen Brunson this summer, which assuredly was a huge extraction of talent, but it's fair to wonder if Brunson's success with the Knicks would have been a reality in Dallas, where he would not have had the chance to handle the ball to the extent that he does now. Others might point to the fact that Reggie Bullock has turned into literally one of the … [Read more...] about Luka Dončić Needs Better Teammates

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Mark Neal, founder and owner of Neal Family Vineyards , credits his Greek grandmother for influencing his organic farming philosophy. Growing up on the island of Crete, her family didn’t just grow grapes, but also farmed vegetables, fruit, olives, and raised animals, as part of a naturally biodiverse farming system. These same practices were adopted by his parents when they moved to Napa Valley in 1968 to purchase land and start an organic farm. “They farmed tomatoes, grapes, prunes, walnuts and raised cattle,” stated Neal, in an online interview. “Everyone in Napa Valley farmed diverse crops back then. It was a way to hedge our bets as farmers, because you never knew what Mother Nature would bring.” Now that same focus on biodiversity is back in style, prompted not only by changing climate conditions, but by consumers who are becoming more concerned with sustainable and organically farmed products. And because of all … [Read more...] about How Neal Family Vineyards Achieved 1st Regenerative Organic Certification In Napa Valley
