New York (CNN Business) Coca-Cola has another new flavor. This time, it got some help. The latest product out of Coca-Cola Creations — Coke's innovation platform, which brought us starlight and pixel-flavored sodas — is a collaboration with Marshmello , a masked DJ and electronic music producer. If you think the artist worked with Coke to develop a marshmallow-flavored beverage, you're wrong. Instead, the new flavor has notes of strawberry and watermelon, Marshmello's favorites. "For our third Coca-Cola Creations drop, we sought to add an unexpected remix of flavors to a great Coca-Cola taste," said Oana Vlad, senior director of global strategy at the company, in a statement announcing the collaboration Wednesday. "We created a vibey blend of my favorite flavors in this all-new mix," Marshmello said in a statement. "I think it tastes amazing and I hope fans love it too." New Zealand designates the Proud Boys as a terrorist group
- A + A NEW YORK (June 30): New Zealand has officially named the Proud Boys as a terrorist entity. The designation for the right-wing group came quietly through a June 27 notice on the country’s government news service, The New Zealand Gazette. The notice said the reasoning behind the designation would be posted online, but the police have yet to do so. Any person who “deals with the property of, or makes property or financial or related services available to” the Proud Boys will be liable to prosecution, the notice said. The move marks the first time a US-based group has been added to New Zealand’s terrorist entity list. It comes as the Jan 6 committee hearings reveal more details about the group’s involvement in the violent storming of the US Capitol. “The Base” was also named a terrorist group in the notice. The designations come months after police in New Zealand stormed the grounds of the country’s parliament, following a three-week occupation that began … [Read more...] about New Zealand designates the Proud Boys as a terrorist group
First Solar rejects US site for new factory, eyes Europe or India instead
- A + A NEW YORK (June 29): First Solar Inc has decided against building a new factory in the US, citing uncertainties regarding trade policy and tax incentives. The biggest US solar manufacturer is still planning a manufacturing facility in either Europe or India, and Chief Executive Officer Mark Widmar expects to make a final decision within 90 days. That would come after the company completes a third US plant early next year in Ohio and its first factory in India in the second half of 2023. The decision is a setback for US President Joe Biden’s efforts to boost domestic solar manufacturing. Solar installations have slowed this year amid a US Commerce Department trade investigation, raising the prospect of tariffs on panels imported from four Southeast Asian nations. While the White House announced this month a two-year moratorium on new tariffs and took steps to encourage American production, Widmar said the moves don’t address underlying issues that give … [Read more...] about First Solar rejects US site for new factory, eyes Europe or India instead
Queen Elizabeth meets Sturgeon after new push for independence vote
LONDON (Reuters) - Queen Elizabeth held a meeting with Scotland's Nicola Sturgeon on Wednesday, a day after the Scottish leader set out plans to push for a second independence referendum to break away from the United Kingdom. Buckingham Palace said the 96-year-old queen, who is spending the week in Scotland, had received Sturgeon as well as a Scottish Parliament official in Edinburgh's Holyrood Palace. On Tuesday, Sturgeon, who is Scotland's first minister, announced plans for a second independence referendum to be held on October 2023, and vowed to take legal action if the British government blocks it. Voters in Scotland, which has a population of around 5.5 million, rejected independence by 55% to 45% in a referendum in 2014. The Scottish National Party, which runs Scotland's semi-autonomous government, says Britain's decision in a referendum in 2016 to leave the European Union - a move opposed by a majority of Scots - means the issue must be put to a second vote. The … [Read more...] about Queen Elizabeth meets Sturgeon after new push for independence vote
New Merrill Culture Sparks Growth, Creates New Ways To Serve Families
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Andy Sieg has dramatically altered Merrill Lynch’s wealth management’s culture during the past five years, rejuvenating the firm’s organic growth. When Sieg joined the firm as president in 2017, the company was losing marketshare to discount brokerage houses and competitors. Some Merrill advisors were comfortable and didn’t want to add new accounts. And Merrill was losing about as many households as it was adding each year. Between 2000 and 2016 Merrill’s share of the market dropped to 5% from 7%. The declines came during a period of rapid asset growth in the wealth management industry. “It took a number of years for the trend to be really clear,” Sieg said, noting that Merrill had added assets and reported strong earnings during 2000-2016 despite the market share loss. Most Merrill’s asset growth had resulted from advisors leaving competitors and bringing their customers to Merrill. To be sure, the lack of … [Read more...] about New Merrill Culture Sparks Growth, Creates New Ways To Serve Families

Workers who joined Starbucks for transgender health benefits worry they are now at risk
Earlier this year, an Arizona woman whom we’ll call Kelly was completing the paperwork required to get facial feminization surgery. She was diagnosed with gender dysphoria in her teens, and after years of struggling with depression, she decided as a 20-something to transition. Then reality hit fast: The process is expensive, lengthy, and rarely covered by insurance. “So I did what lots of trans people do,” she tells Fast Company . “I got a job at Starbucks.” advertisement advertisement Starbucks has covered some types of gender-reassignment surgery since 2012. But in a radical move in 2018, it worked with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health to unveil a supplemental insurance plan that added coverage of procedures “previously considered cosmetic,” such as breast reduction, forehead contouring, calf implants, and hair transplants. With the requisite medical signoffs, Starbucks workers could get many of these procedures with zero … [Read more...] about Workers who joined Starbucks for transgender health benefits worry they are now at risk
