Celltrion to refine its own drug repertoire to recover from slump
Celltrion founder and chairman Seo Jung-jin speaks about his plan for the company during a press conference Wednesday, a day after returning to the management. [CELLTRION] Celltrion is working to further develop its own drug repertoire, not just that of its drug biosimilars. About 40 percent of its annual revenues will come from original drugs in 2030, with the remaining 60 percent from traditional cash cow biosimilar products. These were a few of the plans announced by founder Seo Jung-jin as part of his efforts to help Celltrion shares rebound from its years of being in a slump. Seo was appointed as the co-chairman of Celltrion Holdings and three listed Celltrion companies — Celltrion, Celltrion Pharm and Celltrion Healthcare — during a shareholder meeting Tuesday, after two years after he walked away from the management. His return came upon the request of current management executives as Celltrion shares more than halved from their peak, and shares of Celltrion Pharm … [Read more...] about Celltrion to refine its own drug repertoire to recover from slump

Giant Cosmic Explosion May Be Biggest Since Human Civilization Began, Say Scientists
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The most powerful class of explosions in the universe—a gamma-ray burst—reached the solar system on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022. It was 70 times brighter than any yet seen. A telescope on the International Space Station sensed it. So did NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and scores of satellites. It was even detected by the Voyager 1 probe now in interstellar space. The subject of a special edition of The Astrophysical Journal Letters this week, this pulse of intense radiation has been called the “BOAT”—the brightest of all time—but what was it? “GRB 221009A was likely the brightest burst at X-ray and gamma-ray energies to occur since human civilization began,” said Eric Burns, LSU Department of Physics and Astronomy assistant professor. He led research into about 7,000 gamma-ray bursts and concluded that events like GRB 221009A occur roughly once in every 10,000 years. Gamma-ray bursts are thought to … [Read more...] about Giant Cosmic Explosion May Be Biggest Since Human Civilization Began, Say Scientists
American Express Travel Announces 2023 Trends
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Following last week’s release of the 2023 American Express Travel trends, we sat down with President Audrey Hendley to discuss her projections. Q: Has the travel industry recovered post-pandemic? A: By the 4 th quarter of 2022, we had already lapped 2019. Today, the markets have all re-opened and our customers are thrilled because they want to travel the world. People have certainly had time to sit at home and think about what’s important to them, why they travel, and dream about their next destinations. Q: So let’s talk about destinations? A: Even though travelers continue to favor what we call the big five, they are seeking smaller, lesser-known destinations and communities. Once there, they want to experience the local merchants, the markets, the smaller restaurants, and they love reporting back that they’ve discovered a new spot. Travelers don’t mind spending more if that money goes to supporting a local … [Read more...] about American Express Travel Announces 2023 Trends
Elizabeth Warren Running Again To Keep Tabs On Banks
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Elizabeth Warren's announcement to run for reelection comes on the heels of multiple high-profile bank collapses , and that’s not a coincidence. The Democratic senator from Massachusetts has spoken about holding big banks more accountable for years, and as the issue has moved front and center in the last couple of weeks, so has Warren. Regular cable media appearances and op-eds have been building momentum, making the timing right for a major announcement. Warren first won election in 2012, defeating incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown. In 2018, she won reelection to a second term by a large margin before making an unsuccessful bid for president in 2020. Currently, it's unclear who might challenge Warren for her seat, but even uncontested, her announcement has already drawn national attention. The video was produced by left-leaning political consulting firm Blue State, which rose to prominence after … [Read more...] about Elizabeth Warren Running Again To Keep Tabs On Banks
Is Coinbase Stock Still Worth A Look Following SEC Threats?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Cryptocurrency broker Coinbase stock (NASDAQ NDAQ : COIN) has seen a big sell-off, declining by almost 17% over the last five trading days. The recent decline comes after the company disclosed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission had sent it a Wells notice, which is typically one of the final steps before the commission formally issues charges. Although the notice itself was devoid of many specific details, Coinbase has indicated that it would likely relate to its company’s core trading operations, staking operations, institutional trading operations, and custody business. Although we don’t see a near-term impact on the company’s business, given that Coinbase could end up with potentially long-term litigation with the SEC, the company could see some valuable revenue streams diminish if the SEC were to more tightly regulate its business. The SEC has been cracking down on the crypto space for some time now, … [Read more...] about Is Coinbase Stock Still Worth A Look Following SEC Threats?
How Avaline Wine Co-Founders, Cameron Diaz And Katherine Power, Achieved $20 Million In Sales With Ingredient Transparency
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When serial entrepreneur, Katherine Power met Hollywood star and author, Cameron Diaz , they discovered they had something in common – a love of good wine. At the same time, they also learned they had a common frustration – the lack of transparency on wine labels. With current TTB regulations not requiring alcoholic beverages in the U.S. to include ingredient or nutrition labeling (though this could be changing in the future – see foot note below), they decided to take action and create a new wine brand that did provide customers with this knowledge. Thus the introduction of Avaline wines – the first 100% organically farmed wine with no additives, and clear transparency by listing ingredients and nutritional information on the front and back labels. “They found a hole in the market that consumers wanted filled,” said Avaline President, Jen Purcell, in a recent Zoom interview. “Their vision has paid off, because … [Read more...] about How Avaline Wine Co-Founders, Cameron Diaz And Katherine Power, Achieved $20 Million In Sales With Ingredient Transparency
Strong Earnings From Lululemon And Alibaba Splitting
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Key Takeaways Lululemon Beats On Earnings Alibaba Breaking Into 6 Separate Companies VIX Below 20 It was a slow Tuesday with stocks largely unchanged. The Nasdaq fell less than 0.5% while the S&P 500 lost just 0.2%. Despite the relative quiet this week, stocks have staged a remarkable rally since hitting recent lows in the wake of the banking crisis just a couple weeks ago. The S&P 500 is up 4% and Nasdaq Composite has gained nearly 7%. The market landscape is pretty interesting at the moment. Outside of the banking sector, stocks appear to be on solid footing. I’ve discussed in the past the S&P 500 being in a range of 3800 – 4200. We still seem to be in that range but with the end of quarter upon us and earnings season just a couple weeks away, I’m curious if we break out of that range one way or another. Within the banking sector itself, we’ve seen a lot of trading opportunities. Now, I’m … [Read more...] about Strong Earnings From Lululemon And Alibaba Splitting
