Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Department of Education (ED) has officially said that this year’s Free Application for Federal Student aid (FAFSA) will not open until December , two months later than usual. The delay comes as the result of a huge overhaul of the federal form that students use to apply for financial aid to help pay for college. An exact date in December has not been announced yet. FAFSA has opened for applications on October 1 the year before students expect to enroll in college since 2016. Previously the form was available on January 1 every year. The FAFSA is the federal form you must complete using income and tax information to be considered for any financial aid from the federal government, your state, or one of the colleges you hope to attend. and is used by states and colleges to determine what support they might be eligible for. The move to an earlier FAFSA was possible because of changes that allowed students and families to … [Read more...] about Updated FAFSA Launch Officially Delayed Two Months To December

3 Things To Remember On Your First Solo Backpacking Trip

March 25, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In January 2018, I set off on the epic solo backpacking trip of a lifetime, traveling around Southeast Asia for two months before making my way down to Australia and New Zealand, where I spent a year in each country thanks to their respective Working Holiday Visa programs. For most of that time, I carried everything I needed in my trusty purple backpack and a smaller carry-on sized bag for my laptop and other important items. I embraced the backpacker lifestyle, keeping only what I needed and buying clothes I’d get a lot of use out of. Gone were my days of overpacking, since I knew I’d have to haul it around. While backpacking isn’t for everyone, there are a few things you can do to make your first time out a lot easier. Here are three things I learned during my long-term adventure that you can apply to any backpacking trip, even if it’s just a few weeks long. Choose The Right Backpack Looking back, this is … [Read more...] about 3 Things To Remember On Your First Solo Backpacking Trip

How Loom became TikTok for enterprises

March 2, 2023 by www.fastcompany.com

Loom is No. 45 on Fast Company’s list of the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2023 . Explore the full list of companies that are reshaping industries and culture. Video communication has become de rigueur since the pandemic, but rather than just moving a meeting from a conference room to a screen, Loom does something different. It takes the short-form video phenomenon and turns it into an effective way for businesses to pitch clients, explain how a product works, or share information internally. Think of it like TikTok for enterprises. By allowing customers to create short videos (up to five minutes long) that can be watched anytime and shared as needed, the eight-year-old company helps its 18 million users across 350,000 businesses eschew time-sucking scheduled video meetings, both internally and externally. Those clients—which include Netflix, HubSpot, and P&G’s Tide brand—have been using it a lot. As of December, more than 215 million “looms” had been … [Read more...] about How Loom became TikTok for enterprises

Sony SRS-RA5000 Review: A Sculpted, 7-Driver Speaker That’s Optimized For 360 Reality Audio

April 18, 2021 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin One of the things I like about Sony is that every once in a while the company is willing to swing for the fences and release a product that is — different — from everything else out there. Extreme. That’s the case with the Sony SRS-RA5000 , a big, pricey wireless speaker that’s bristling with drivers, sculpted to look like a piece of modern art and optimized to make the most of the 360 Reality Audio format. First Impression Sony knows how to design eye-catching products, and the SRS-RA5000 certainly draws attention. It’s a large (13-inches tall) speaker. All curves, the unit is wrapped in black cloth and dominated by a trio of copper-coloured speaker grills across the top. Maybe they’re rose gold. It depends on the light. Either way, they pop against the black. There are discrete touch controls for music playback on one “side” and for power and connectivity on another. The speaker basically looks like a piece of … [Read more...] about Sony SRS-RA5000 Review: A Sculpted, 7-Driver Speaker That’s Optimized For 360 Reality Audio

Beauty Pageants And Academia – The Perfect Contradiction?

March 24, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When you think of beauty pageants, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Probably not academia, social responsibility or sustainable finance. Dr Ana Nacvalovaite, Research fellow at Kellogg College, University of Oxford, says otherwise. Aside from being a distinguished academic and renowned expert within her field of work, Ana is also Mrs Great Britain, and will soon be competing in the semi-finals for “Mrs Globe”. At first it may seem like a contradiction, but for Ana, the world of pageants and academia intersect in several ways. “Beauty pageants have given me a platform to promote social and environmental issues that are important to me, such as gender equality, human rights, and sustainability.
