Not clear at all. We were at a holding room at the Villamor Air Base in Manila – six journalists and a few Philippine generals – getting ready to fly to the location of the aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan. The person speaking was the pilot of the C-2 Greyhound plane that would fly us to the carrier. He was trying his best to describe how unique the flight would be, and how it would feel on the human body. The group listened intently. But I have been on this flight before, and I know no amount of explaining will ever fully prepare you for what’s about to happen. Eliza Relman, provided by Published 3:58 pm CDT, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 MSNBC C-SPAN might have a reputation for mind-numbing content, but once in a while lawmakers on Capitol Hill spice up the legislative debate with an eye-catching prop. In 2015, Sen. James Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican, attempted to disprove scientific evidence of climate change with a snowball. Another GOP lawmaker, Arizona Rep. By Richard Rubin WSJ Fri., Feb. 15, 2019 For decades, the debate in the U.S. over taxing the rich has been a familiar game of tug of war. Republican presidents Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Donald Trump pushed top tax rates down. Democratic presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama pushed them back up. Back and forth, up and down, the discussion remained within fairly narrow bounds. The tax debate emerging today is a different game altogether, and it may provide the biggest jolt to the American tax system in a generation. Emboldened by poll numbers showing public sympathy for their views, Democrats are proposing a range of ambitious tax hikes on the rich. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) has floated a top rate of 77% on estates. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass) has suggested … [Read more...] about Democrats Take Aim at the Reagan Tax Revolution
