Daniel Suarez, Fresh Off A Contract Extension With Trackhouse Racing, Is Ready For His Breakout Season

March 17, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Daniel Suarez has never felt this way. It’s almost like he’s “married” to Trackhouse Racing. Yes, he’s married to his team, especially since he just inked a multi-year extension during Speedweeks in Daytona last month. Oh, and he’s actually engaged to his longtime girlfriend Julia Piquet. “It was the most exciting offseason I’ve had and the most relaxing,” Suarez said during a Nascar 75th anniversary media tour in New York City. “I was able to recharge my batteries ahead of this season. I’m excited. We have a big steak on the table for this year. I’m looking forward to going out there to fight for it.” Suarez is off to a hot start in his third season with Trackhouse Racing, earning three top 10s through the first four races. With an emphasis on consistency, he believes the No. 99 team can compete for a championship in 2023. “The Daniel Suarez of last year will not be good enough,” Suarez said. “I have to … [Read more...] about Daniel Suarez, Fresh Off A Contract Extension With Trackhouse Racing, Is Ready For His Breakout Season

Nascar Driver Josh Williams Suspended For One Race After Viral Exit From His Car On Track At Atlanta

March 22, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Nascar Xfinity Series driver Josh Williams became a sports sensation on Saturday afternoon in an unexpected way. The underfunded Nascar driver went viral after he parked his car on the start/finish line and walked through the infield grass to the DGM Racing pit stall, led to a wide debate in the Nascar community this week. Williams was suspended by Nascar for the upcoming race due to exiting his car during Saturday’s RAPTOR King of the Tough 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He will miss Saturday’s Pit Boss 250 at the Circuit of The Americas. Williams fell victim to an incident during the crash-filled Xfinity Series race. When his small team put bear bond (strong adhesive repair tape) on his car, it fell off because it couldn't stick with the cold weather. The tape fell off on the track to cause another caution flag. Nascar told his team that he was disqualified from competing in the rest of the event, so Williams … [Read more...] about Nascar Driver Josh Williams Suspended For One Race After Viral Exit From His Car On Track At Atlanta

Jimmie Johnson, Jenson Button Using NASCAR Race At COTA To Help Prepare For 24 Hours Of Le Mans

March 24, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Jimmie Johnson returns to the driver’s seat in the No. 84 Chevrolet Camaro for The Legacy Motor Club in this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of The Americas. It’s the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s first race as a driver since his impressive return in the 65 th Daytona 500 was ruined when he was involved in the massive last-lap crash in overtime that helped determine the outcome of the race. Rather than look back, however, Johnson is using Sunday’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at the 19-turn, 3.4-mile road course that hosts the United States Grand Prix Formula One contest to help prepare for the 75 th 24 Hours of Le Mans. Johnson along with Mike Rockenfeller and former Formula One World Champion Jenson Button will be part of the Garage 56 effort that will take a NASCAR Cup Series stock car to the world’s most famous endurance race on June 10-11, 2023. Joel Embiid Is The Current NBA MVP Favorite, But It’s Still Anyone’s Race

March 25, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has been the front-runner for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award for the past few months, but Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo aren't going down without a fight. Heading into Saturday, Embiid was the slight MVP favorite at -175, according to FanDuel Sportsbook , although Jokic (+270) and Antetokounmpo (+420) aren't far behind. Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is the only other player on the board at +12000, which means this is down to a three-man race heading into the final two weeks of the 2022-23 season. Although plenty of fans and analysts thought Jokic had his third straight MVP in the bag earlier this season, this race remains wide-open. Shortly after Antetokounmpo's Bucks reeled off a 16-game winning streak—which Embiid's Sixers snapped in Milwaukee—Jokic's Nuggets dropped four straight games and lost five in a … [Read more...] about Joel Embiid Is The Current NBA MVP Favorite, But It’s Still Anyone’s Race

With Packers Fading, Vikings Emerge As Top Team In 2023 NFC North Race

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Minnesota Vikings wrested control of the NFC North away from the Green Bay Packers last season, and that was a significant step for a team that had grown used to looking up at their rivals in the standings for many years. For as long as Vikings fans could remember, it was always about finding a way to stay close to the team from the Frozen Tundra. That may no longer be the case because the Packers are in disarray. It appears almost certain that Aaron Rodgers will be moving on to the New York Jets, and the only question is what Green Bay can commandeer from the Jets in a trade. Outside of the Rodgers maneuvering, the Packers have lost wide receiver Allen Lazard to the aforementioned Jets, tight end Robert Tonyan to the Chicago Bears and they have brought in a long snapper. The first part of free agency has not gone well for the Packers. There are no guarantees for the Vikings, as the Detroit Lions took a major … [Read more...] about With Packers Fading, Vikings Emerge As Top Team In 2023 NFC North Race

Tokyo Olympics: South Sudan’s Abraham Guem and his race for peace

August 1, 2021 by thethaiger.com

Abraham Majok Matek Guem has become accustomed to many new things. Heated toilets that drain automatically, tunnels that go through mountains, even the Japanese language is no longer foreign to him. “There is only one thing I can’t get used to: sushi,” Guem told DW. The middle-distance runner from South Sudan has been living in Japan for 21 months. He was only supposed to take part in a long training camp in the buildup to the Tokyo Olympics as part of an initiative by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Because of the one-year postponement of the Games due to COVID-19, Japan has almost become a second home for him. Local support for South Sudanese team “We never felt like foreigners here. People actually often greet us on the street and which us luck,” Guem explains. We refers to three other track and field athletes and a coach from South Sudan. With 365 CoPilot, Microsoft retains its edge over Google in the generative AI arms race

March 16, 2023 by www.fastcompany.com

In what you might call “phase two” of their generative AI announcements, both Google and Microsoft have now announced their plans for integrating the technology across their productivity products. Microsoft announced its plans for “Microsoft 365 Copilot” Thursday, and the company appears to have retained its edge over Google—on both the strength of its partnership with OpenAI and on the speed at which it is giving its generative AI models deeper access to the proprietary business data of its enterprise users. Jared Spataro, Microsoft’s VP for modern work & business applications, says it this way in a blog post Thursday: “Microsoft 365 Copilot . . . generates answers anchored in your business content—your documents, emails, calendar, chats, meetings, contacts, and other business data—and combines them with your working context —the meeting you’re in now, the email exchanges you’ve had on a topic, the chat conversations you had last week—to deliver accurate, … [Read more...] about With 365 CoPilot, Microsoft retains its edge over Google in the generative AI arms race

No Longer Sleepless In Seattle, Young Mariners On Mission To Win First Pennant In Team History

March 22, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s not for lack of trying. The Seattle Mariners will start the 2023 baseball season March 30 as the only one of the 30 major-league teams that has never won a pennant. Created as a 1977 expansion team to fill the void created by the failure of the Seattle Pilots after one season, the M’s have had their share of great players, including Hall of Famers Ken Griffey, Jr., Randy Johnson, and Edgar Martinez. They’ve also had some amazing years, including a 116-win season – most in American League history and tied with the 1906 Chicago Cubs for the most victories ever. Those 2001 Mariners went 116-46, posting a .716 winning percentage, but lost to the New York Yankees in the playoffs. It was downhill from there, with Seattle not returning to post-season play before last year, when they went 90-72 to finish second to the Houston Astros in the American League West. The wild-card win wasn’t enough, however, as the … [Read more...] about No Longer Sleepless In Seattle, Young Mariners On Mission To Win First Pennant In Team History
