Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin New reports are emerging from the sets of Netflix’s reality TV Squid Game show that paint a dire picture. Contestants report that the filming conditions for the show, based on the hit Korean Netflix drama, are often harsh and cold. “This is not a Bear Grylls survival show,” a contestant named John told Variety about one grueling filming session that ended up being exceptionally chilly. “If they had told us it was going to be that cold, no one would have gone through with it.” 456 contestants are competing for a $4.56 million prize, with each game “killing” off a bunch of hopefuls. For $4.56 million, I’m pretty sure plenty of people would have gone through with it, cold be damned. John was eliminated in the first round, however, along with roughly 227 other contestants. This is very similar to the first round of Squid Game, in which 255 of the 456 contestants were killed playing Red Light, Green Light. … [Read more...] about Netflix ‘Squid Game’ Reality TV Show Contestants Shocked That ‘Squid Game’ Isn’t Actually Fun

Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society Minister says e-cigarettes should be legalised
Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society Minister says it’s about time that e-cigarettes be legalised. The Minister, Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, thinks Thailand should amend the law to reflect the lives of many people in developed countries. According to Thai PBS World, Chaiwut added that Thailand’s neighbouring countries of Singapore and Malaysia have already legalised electronic smoking devices. “The key issue is to legalise (e-cigarettes), if we believe that this is the way of life and a freedom and it is accepted by the majority, then we should do it,” said the DES minister, adding that making e-cigarettes legal will also help generate tax revenue for the state.” He also says that e-cigarettes are currently smuggled into the country and offered for sale online with impunity due to the law remaining unchanged. The discovery of the balloon prompted US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to postpone his diplomatic visit to China this week. Biden faced criticism from Republicans for allowing the balloon to continue drifting above the continental US for days, CNN reported. Military officials had advised against shooting down the balloon while over the US mainland due to the risk posed by the debris to civilians and property on the ground. Thailand’s Tourism Authority reminds visitors of current anti-smoking laws
Thailand’s government is reminding tourists of the nation’s current anti-smoking laws. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) says travellers should be aware that electronic cigarettes, shishas, and electronic shishas are currently illegal. Furthermore, the TAT says there is no smoking in public areas as part of the broader Tobacco Control Law which aims to promote a clean, safe and smoke-free environment. The reminder comes after recent incidents have seen foreign travellers facing fines or arrest after using such devices as electronic cigarettes while being unaware of their illegality. According to the Phuket Express, electronic cigarettes and shishas were banned back in 2014 for health reasons as well as their potential to encourage young people to take up the bad habit.
