Inside Goa’s casinos, a mix of anticipation and signs of post-pandemic revival

August 6, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Delta Corp., a listed company, has a few off-shore casinos in Goa, including Deltin Royale, Deltin Jaqk and Deltin Caravela, also known as King Casino. (Image courtesy Delta Corp.) On a ferry, past 10pm, the mood is sombre, almost ominous, as the vehicle skims towards one of the many ships anchored on the Mandovi river, off the port of Panjim. There is enough light on the bay, from brightly lit ships, glossy billboards, reflections off the river surface that’s kinetic in the monsoon. But the mood inside is darker than you would imagine for a bunch of people off to spend money, play games and enjoy a pre-paid buffet. “I often make a trip to one of these,” says a young- to middle-aged man in a checked shirt, part of a group of others of a similar age, who does not want to disclose his name. “My family knows, but I would rather not have to answer too many questions at home.” The Belgaum resident is one of thousands of tourists who gravitate towards one of Goa’s six off-shore … [Read more...] about Inside Goa’s casinos, a mix of anticipation and signs of post-pandemic revival

This article first appeared in City & Country, The Edge Malaysia Weekly, on July 25, 2022 - July 31, 2022. - A + A Additional questions from those who attended The Edge Malaysia RealTalk 2022 were sent via email after the event. Here are the responses from the speakers. Anthony Lee 1. I was recently informed by the joint management office that the unit on the 15th floor has a water leak and it is due to water dripping from the common toilet. May I know who is responsible for repairing this sewerage pipe/water leak? In strata properties, water leaks or seepages that emanate from a higher floor that affect the floor below may be termed as an inter-floor leakage. The source of water leakage is usually the bathrooms, toilets, sewerage, water pipes or roofing, resulting in water stains, paint damage, mould or bio-hazardous wastewater. Unfortunately, inter-floor leakage has become a serious and recurring systemic problem in high-rise … [Read more...] about After The Forum
