The US Fed has injected trillions of dollars in a matter of months. Normally, any increase in currency circulation without a corresponding increase in the real GDP should result in currency depreciation. However, similar actions from the other central banks towards their currencies makes dollar weakening unlikely. The relative strength of the US economy probably creates a bias towards appreciation of the dollar vis-à-vis other currencies. The dollar is likely to remain strong in the long run on the back of significant international revenue share of US companies and the global dominance of its technology sector. As an English language studies professor, I wanted to understand how presenters build credibility, so I analyzed the transcripts of 30 panel discussions at the Brookings Institution in 2019 to glean the verbal strategies used by foreign affairs experts. While I have carefully dissected these strategies as a specialist in public speaking skills, they boil down to a simple message for anyone delivering a presentation via a digital screen: Brag and name-drop. … [Read more...] about 11 science-backed ways to boost your credibility when you work remotely
ENIL’s performance was better than our expectations (EBITDA loss of Rs260mn versus our estimate of Rs644mn) on the back of better cost control. While targeted savings of Rs1bn in FY21E is noteworthy, we believe fixed cost absorption will continue to remain a challenge in a weak demand environment (inventory utilization for 35 legacy/17 batch 1/21batch 2 stations is expected to be 45%/15%/10% in FY21E). Further, recovery in non-FCT business will be back ended as events, activations & concerts would remain suspended until COVID-19 risk subsides. While concerns on growth and margins have aggravated post-COVID we draw comfort from strong BS (zero debt), high cash (Rs2.4bn; ~39% of market cap is in cash), and improvement in the profitability profile of non-FCT business which was labelled as margin dilutive (GM has improved from 19% in FY17 to 36% in FY20). Higher focus on digital solutions within the non-FCT business, when on-ground activity is virtually absent will not only aid … [Read more...] about Hold Entertainment Network (India); target of Rs 157: Prabhudas Lilladher
That means that gas stoves will need to be replaced by electric or induction stoves, gas water heaters will be replaced by electric water heaters, and furnaces that run on natural gas will likely be replaced by heat pumps, which make use of the constant heat underground to transfer heat inside when it’s cold (in the summer, the process can be reversed to create efficient air cooling). In Maine, the government is paying to help homeowners switch to heat pumps, with a goal of installing 100,000 by 2025. In New York, the state is spending billions on heat pumps as well. Some international governments already plan to go further. In the Netherlands, where natural gas is even more common than it is in the U.S., the country plans to be completely gas-free by 2050. … [Read more...] about What will it take for cities to get rid of natural gas?
