Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Anyone who’s ever remodeled a house knows just how hard, expensive and time consuming it always end up being. Now try to imagine just how hard, expensive and time consuming it is to “remodel” a 344-foot-long superyacht. Since I still have PTSD from our last home remodel (sure, we can live without a working bathroom for 6 weeks when my wife is 7 months pregnant). I honestly can’t even imagine how hard it was to transform the yacht (that was simply called H that Oceanco and delivered in 2000) into a completely reimagined yacht with entirely new interior and superstructure. I just can’t. The original H was designed by The A Group . Reymond Langton Design brought unique passion and experience to the rebuild. And kudos to Oceanco and the whole team for the dramatic unveiling they pulled off earlier this week. As you can see in these photos, Oceanco’s re-launch event featured more smoke and spotlights than an 80’s … [Read more...] about Oceanco Unveils Ultimate 344-Foot-Long Superyacht Rebuild In Rockstar Style

63% Of Employees Don’t Trust Their Leader — Here’s What You Can Do To Change That
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Shutterstock Trust is toast, according to the 2017 Edelman Trust Barometer . It’s worldwide, it’s pervasive across business and government, and trust of CEOs is at an all-time low. CEO Credibility plunged by 12 points this year. Lack of trust creates an environment where concerns quickly evolve into fears. And when fears collide with a belief that the system is failing, trouble results. Also as distrust and fear increase, the negative impact on employee morale, engagement and performance accelerate. The end results are disengaged employees, frustrated management and lower profits. And the problem comes from four key emotional experiences: Watch on Forbes: 1. Where Has The Trust Gone In Business?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Marian Evans, Managing Director at Elevate BC Ltd . Call me an idealist, but in business, politics and every other aspect of our lives, trust matters. It used to matter, and it still does. We’re living in uncertain times, and trust is much more important when people feel unsure about their future. Yet, at present, I’ve noticed there seems to be a trust vacuum in many industries. As ongoing strikes show, there are real concerns about the intentions of employers toward their workforces, about the fair distribution of wealth and the very nature of employment. There are also changes in what employees expect from their employers. With all this going on, we’re going to take a look at the reasons why trust levels have fallen and why trust is such an important factor in business. What does trust mean in business? When I talk about trust in business, I’m referring to three different things. 1. Strategic … [Read more...] about Where Has The Trust Gone In Business?
The Importance Of Due Diligence And Key Takeaways Going Forward
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Raphaëlle d'Ornano is the Managing Partner + Founder at D'Ornano+Co. , a pioneer in Hybrid Growth Diligence. The full details of the FTX disaster won’t emerge for years. But in a court filing , the new CEO of FTX said he had never seen “such a complete failure of corporate control.” How could investors not know what was going on? The answer is simple: In my opinion, the traditional way of conducting due diligence for early-stage investments made primarily by venture capitalists continued to be used by the “non-traditional investors” (NTIs) who have come to dominate massive late-stage funding rounds in recent years. The participation of these NTIs has been one of the defining aspects of the recent tech funding boom, sending valuations soaring. NTIs are used to investing in public companies and apply a similar skill set when looking at pre-IPO companies. But in the case of FTX, despite the amount at stake … [Read more...] about The Importance Of Due Diligence And Key Takeaways Going Forward

Ignoring nations’ debt risks can trigger global recession, warns FM Nirmala Sitharaman
FM Nirmala Sitharaman The rising debt vulnerabilities of various nations, if ignored, can trigger a global recession, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Speaking at the virtual Voice of Global South Summit on January 12, the minister said global debt vulnerabilities are on the rise and posed threats of systemic global debt crisis. "If left unaddressed, these mounting debt vulnerabilities can trigger a global recession and push millions under extreme poverty," she said. Nirmala Sitharaman was speaking at the two-day summit after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, earlier today, called on the 'Global South' to band together and help shape the new world order . In her remarks, the finance minister also said that strengthening multilateral development banks is key to addressing the global challenges of the 21st century. Energy, Chips, Taiwan: Flashpoints for 2023 in a fractured world
Semiconductor manufacturing at the GlobalFoundries facility in Malta, New York. Photographer: Adam Glanzman/Bloomberg A new age of great-power rivalry is redrawing the map of the world economy and forcing business chiefs to navigate around a growing number of global flashpoints. With a hot war raging in Europe and a cold one escalating between the US and China, the rest of the world is under pressure to pick sides. Political leaders are imposing new economic priorities, as they battle to avert shortfalls of vital commodities — from natural gas to semiconductors — and use the ones they control as leverage. For the titans of commerce gathering in Davos this week, all of this marks a shift away from the era of ever-closer global ties, when big business thought it had succeeded in making the world flat. Now it’s in for a bumpier ride. Debate at the World Economic Forum will revolve around these emerging geo-economic risks. Some center on key goods or markets - like the … [Read more...] about Energy, Chips, Taiwan: Flashpoints for 2023 in a fractured world
How Crypto Can Reset At Davos 2023
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As 2023 gets underway, and as the economic picture begins to come into focus for the year ahead, there is one sector that seems to be in need of a reset, or at least some modifications; crypto. To avoid rehashing the negative events of 2022, there are numerous sources that do so quite well, it is safe to say the crypto space enters the new year with somewhat of a damaged reputation. With recent lawsuits against both Gemini and Genesis, further reinforcing the perception that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seemingly more interested in regulation by edict rather than productive dialogue, there seems to be a need for crypto to reset in the coming year. Fraud, scams, lawsuits, and shaken investor confidence are no way to build a healthy, sustainable, and viable marketplace. The World Economic Forum (WEF), held in Davos Switzerland ever January (among other times in a post COVID world), is a well-known … [Read more...] about How Crypto Can Reset At Davos 2023

Reynold went on to note how the move has been expected for some time, with the Buccaneers approving a plan to fire Leftwich at midseason. However, head coach Todd Bowles didn’t see a potential upgrade on the current staff — which is the reason they stuck with Leftwich, despite the offensive unit’s struggles all season long. “The Bucs okayed a plan to fire Leftwich at midseason – … [Read more...] about Tampa Bay Buccaneers Expected To Move On From Offensive Coordinator Byron Leftwich After Playoff Loss
