Situational awareness is very important when it comes to surviving potentially dangerous situations. During my interview with former Delta Force operators Bob Keller, Nate Dudley and Brian Gilligan , I asked what advice they have for identifying when a situation might head south, and their advice is 100% worth listening to. “Bottom line is you need to be aware of your surroundings. You need to be aware of where you are to begin with. What’s the reason you’re there, right,” Gilligan explained when talking about situation awareness. He then also tore into people who make everything political and said it’s time for people to “f**king relax” a bit. You can watch their full comments below. That’s some great advice from guys who absolutely know what they’re talking about given their combat experience as Tier One operators, and must admit that I laughed pretty hard when Keller asked Dudley, “How bad did you want to crack some skulls?” It was also important to note … [Read more...] about Former Delta Force Operators Explain The Importance Of Situational Awareness When Identifying Potentially Dangerous Situations

Forget the baby apps. These are the apps every new parent should have
Baby showers are a great way for friends and family to help you get some of the stuff you’ll need for a new baby. While I may not be able to hand you a pack of burp cloths through a screen, as a third-time mom, I can offer something that’ll help make new parenthood a little less hectic: app recommendations. advertisement advertisement These aren’t baby apps—I’ve tried those, and the focus on diapers and feedings felt more like extra pressure than relief. The apps I’m suggesting here integrate with the rest of your life to lighten your mental load and make you feel functional as a person as well as a parent. Time tracker So many words of wisdom about babies have to do with time: “don’t blink,” “cherish every moment,” “the days are long, but the years are short.” Some days, I’m just asking, “Where did the time go?” You don’t need to cherish every moment to prove you love your baby—in fact, it’s nearly impossible. But knowing where your time is … [Read more...] about Forget the baby apps. These are the apps every new parent should have
The hidden cost of new homes
The past 20 or so years of housing development in England and Wales has decimated community access to green space. That’s according to a new report from think tank the New Economics Foundation (NEF), which has brought together data on the age of housing developments, public green space provision, and public perceptions of green space in their local area. advertisement advertisement As an academic researching and writing the role of access to nature in health and wellbeing, I was shocked by the detail of the report. “Green space” in this sense means any public area in a town or city that includes plant life or water features (sometimes referred to as blue space), set aside for recreation. This can be a whole park or woodland, street trees, or simply a small patch of grass. The new report points to some stark differences in the accessibility and quality of green space provision depending on when most of the houses in the area were built – and, as … [Read more...] about The hidden cost of new homes
CDC monitors 6 people in US for possible rare monkeypox, says public ‘should not be concerned’
(CNN) Officials at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are closely tracking recent clusters of monkeypox infections around the world -- and possible cases in the United States. Currently, the CDC is monitoring six people in the United States for possible monkeypox infections after they sat near an infected traveler who had symptoms while on a flight from Nigeria to the United Kingdom in early May. Separately, CDC officials also are investigating a case of monkeypox confirmed in a man in Massachusetts who had recently traveled to Canada. And in New York City, one patient has tested positive for orthopoxvirus, the family of viruses to which monkeypox belongs, NYC health officials announced in a news release Friday. The case is being treated as a "presumptive positive" case until confirmed pending CDC testing and the patient is currently isolating, the release states. New York City health officials had also tested one other patient for … [Read more...] about CDC monitors 6 people in US for possible rare monkeypox, says public ‘should not be concerned’
Johnny Depp And Amber Heard’s Trial Has Stans Scrambling To Control The Narrative
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues its downward plunge, airing daily doses of dirty laundry, bringing out the worst in its audience. Live-streaming on multiple platforms, featuring a wide range of celebrity witnesses, the trial has been a sordid spectacle from the beginning, a cruel parody of reality television; few other events are capable of maintaining this amount of attention for such an extended period of time - celebrity scandals usually fade as fast as they arrive on our timelines. But the “serialized” nature of the case, the constant drips of new information, have turned this trial into a goldmine of content, launching small creators into the stratosphere - legal experts, armchair experts, and gossip merchants are all armed with pickaxes, hacking away like there’s no tomorrow. Amid the swirling social media hysteria, it’s easy to forget what the trial is even about - defamation, … [Read more...] about Johnny Depp And Amber Heard’s Trial Has Stans Scrambling To Control The Narrative

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This Is Us fans might not be anywhere near ready for the beloved NBC show to end this Tuesday, May 24. But series star Mandy Moore, who plays the family's matriarch, Rebecca Pearson, has had her coping mechanism in place for some time. " I'm excited, because I feel like I'll be able to take this time to really process this very seminal chapter that's closing, and be able to use the music and being able to play songs every night as a way to process what I just lived through instead of being a shell in the fetal position in my bedroom. I get to go out and do something." The show wraps this Tuesday and Moore will be out on the road by June 10 in Atlanta in support of her superb new album, In Real Life . She is excited for many reasons, including the fact this is her first full tour in … [Read more...] about Sunday Conversation: Mandy Moore On The End Of ‘This Is Us,’ New Music, Joni Mitchell And Emmy Buzz
