Situational awareness is very important when it comes to surviving potentially dangerous situations. During my interview with former Delta Force operators Bob Keller, Nate Dudley and Brian Gilligan , I asked what advice they have for identifying when a situation might head south, and their advice is 100% worth listening to. “Bottom line is you need to be aware of your surroundings. You need to be aware of where you are to begin with. What’s the reason you’re there, right,” Gilligan explained when talking about situation awareness. He then also tore into people who make everything political and said it’s time for people to “f**king relax” a bit. You can watch their full comments below. That’s some great advice from guys who absolutely know what they’re talking about given their combat experience as Tier One operators, and must admit that I laughed pretty hard when Keller asked Dudley, “How bad did you want to crack some skulls?” It was also important to note … [Read more...] about Former Delta Force Operators Explain The Importance Of Situational Awareness When Identifying Potentially Dangerous Situations

Interview Like a STAR for Success
Dynamic communication skills are one of the keys to personal and professional success that I discuss in Straight Talk for Success . If you want to become a dynamic communicator, you need to master three basic, but critical skills: 1) conversation; 2) writing; and 3) presenting. advertisement advertisement Job interviews are some of the most important conversations you will ever have. However, many people go into them woefully underprepared. I was speaking with Bob Matts, a friend and a senior HR executive with a very large and prestigious company the other day. Bob was telling me about the STAR method of interviewing that his company employs. STAR is an acronym that means “Situation/Task — Activity – Result.” The STAR model was developed by the consulting firm DDI and taught in a program called Targeted Selection. When Bob and his colleagues conduct interviews they always ask candidates to: 1. Describe a situation or task with which … [Read more...] about Interview Like a STAR for Success
Elon Musk sees US as ‘probably’ in recession lasting up to 18 months
Elon Musk, chief executive officer of Tesla Inc., arrives at court during the SolarCity trial in Wilmington, Delaware, U.S., on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Musk was cool but combative as he testified in a Delaware courtroom that Tesla's more than $2 billion acquisition of SolarCity in 2016 wasn't a bailout of the struggling solar provider. Elon Musk said that the US economy was “probably” in a recession -- a judgment at odds with economists and available data -- and cautioned companies to watch costs and cash flows. “These things pass and then there will be boom times again,” Musk told the All-In Summit in Miami Beach, according to a live-streamed video of his remarks posted by a Twitter user. “It’ll probably be some tough-going for, I don’t know, a year, maybe 12-18 months.” Recession fears have been growing recently as the Federal Reserve tightens monetary policy to help cool down inflation that’s running near its hottest pace since the early 1980s. Still, odds of downturn … [Read more...] about Elon Musk sees US as ‘probably’ in recession lasting up to 18 months
CDC monitors 6 people in US for possible rare monkeypox, says public ‘should not be concerned’
(CNN) Officials at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are closely tracking recent clusters of monkeypox infections around the world -- and possible cases in the United States. Currently, the CDC is monitoring six people in the United States for possible monkeypox infections after they sat near an infected traveler who had symptoms while on a flight from Nigeria to the United Kingdom in early May. Separately, CDC officials also are investigating a case of monkeypox confirmed in a man in Massachusetts who had recently traveled to Canada. And in New York City, one patient has tested positive for orthopoxvirus, the family of viruses to which monkeypox belongs, NYC health officials announced in a news release Friday. The case is being treated as a "presumptive positive" case until confirmed pending CDC testing and the patient is currently isolating, the release states. New York City health officials had also tested one other patient for … [Read more...] about CDC monitors 6 people in US for possible rare monkeypox, says public ‘should not be concerned’
Sunday Conversation: Mandy Moore On The End Of ‘This Is Us,’ New Music, Joni Mitchell And Emmy Buzz
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This Is Us fans might not be anywhere near ready for the beloved NBC show to end this Tuesday, May 24. But series star Mandy Moore, who plays the family's matriarch, Rebecca Pearson, has had her coping mechanism in place for some time. "It was a very intentional plan to finish the show and have some new music out and be able to go on the road immediately," Moore tells me. " I'm excited, because I feel like I'll be able to take this time to really process this very seminal chapter that's closing, and be able to use the music and being able to play songs every night as a way to process what I just lived through instead of being a shell in the fetal position in my bedroom. I get to go out and do something." The show wraps this Tuesday and Moore will be out on the road by June 10 in Atlanta in support of her superb new album, In Real Life . She is excited for many reasons, including the fact this is her first full tour in … [Read more...] about Sunday Conversation: Mandy Moore On The End Of ‘This Is Us,’ New Music, Joni Mitchell And Emmy Buzz
How To Build An Interesting E-Commerce Brand In A Boring Industry
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Just because your business or brand isn’t in an inherently interesting category doesn’t mean your brand has to be bland and boring. While there is a huge number of exciting and trendy niches emerging, most industries have to contend with generating interest in what can feel like mundane, complex, or misunderstood spaces. Instead, it is the way a brand presents its narrative that truly makes it interesting. Even greater success will be secured by … [Read more...] about How To Build An Interesting E-Commerce Brand In A Boring Industry

Here’s The New Left-Wing Theory Parents Are Fighting In Schools
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the latest education concern among parents who are worried about the state of the American education system. “Critical Race Theory is the ideology, but Social Emotional Learning is the delivery system,” Jennifer McWilliams, a parental rights education consultant, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “What could end up happening at the end of the day is that these mental health initiatives work to reshape students’ minds towards certain worldviews that might be inherently opposed to the values of their parents,” Max Eden, research fellow for the American Enterprise Institute, told TheDCNF. Critical Race Theory (CRT) isn’t the only three-word phrase that has parents concerned; Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the latest curriculum headache that education experts warn is permeating the American public school system.
