OKC Thunder To Face Most Pivotal Road Trip Of Season
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “The core of your team gets built on the road,” said Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault on Sunday evening before the team hit the road for a trip out west. To him, road trips are great for a developing young team and there are plenty of lessons to be learned. “I love playing on the road. It’s a great test,” said Daigneault. “It’s strips away everything except for your team. It’s just you. 3 Ways Managers Can Improve Employee Engagement And Support Remaining Employees After A Layoff
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Layoff notifications are similar to notifications of a grave health diagnosis; no one wants to be on the giving or receiving end. Yet, most of us have lost count of the number of layoffs in 2023. I was recently coaching a high achiever preparing for parental leave. The Real Problem Behind Quiet Quitting And Quiet Hiring
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When “quiet quitting” emerged last summer, the workforce was divided into two groups: those who stick to their job descriptions and those who don’t. Discussions about quiet quitting emerged when a viral TikTok video described the act as limiting your involvement in work that extends beyond the job you were hired to do. As awareness about quiet quitting grew, so did the backlash. What young Millennials and Gen-Zers viewed as a healthy work-life balance, older employers interpreted as a poor work ethic and sign of entitlement. Like most contentious topics trending in the media, it wasn’t long before quit quitting lost traction to something more novel. Taking its place has been the new—but equally silent trend—quiet hiring. Quiet hiring is when employers give their employees additional tasks so they can avoid the time and financial costs of hiring someone new. Although the term for quiet quitting appeared relatively … [Read more...] about The Real Problem Behind Quiet Quitting And Quiet Hiring
Why We Don’t Play The Long Game
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Evan Coopersmith, EVP of Data Science at AE.Studio . Good habits have upfront costs and long-term benefits. Bad habits have upfront benefits and long-term costs. A cigarette offers a short-term benefit in terms of the stimulation from the nicotine, the social camaraderie of the step outside the office to relax with a colleague and the physical enjoyment orally and otherwise. The long-term costs are well-understood (increased risk of cancer and death certainly appear at the top of the list). Trips to the gym, especially those first few, can involve significant short-term suffering with respect to physical soreness, fatigue and, if you’re socially conscious, the sense of being dramatically weaker than the human beings around you. Decisions The examples above are painfully obvious in terms of their short-term/long-term costs/benefits. There are countless other examples with respect to physical, mental and … [Read more...] about Why We Don’t Play The Long Game
Safety, Tech Skills And Worker Satisfaction Will Define The Future Of Work
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In the summer of 2022, two maintenance workers found themselves waist-deep in liquid chocolate after falling into a tank at a candy factory in Pennsylvania. Stuck for over an hour, the two workers couldn’t climb out and had to be cut from the tank by emergency responders. Thankfully, the workers weren’t injured. But the incident — which cost the company more than $14,000 in fines — could have been much worse. Workplace incidents, particularly in high-risk sectors like public safety, power utilities, mining and construction, have historically resulted in tragic outcomes. This doesn’t have to be the case. With new digital tools driven by Industry 4.0 initiatives, risks can be mitigated and incidents are less likely to occur by giving organizations the awareness needed to increase workplace safety. But it’s not just safety that can be assured by digital-era technologies. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, … [Read more...] about Safety, Tech Skills And Worker Satisfaction Will Define The Future Of Work
