July 18, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The job market and the economy will be in bad shape for a while. With all the chatter about inflation and a recession, it's hard to understand what is happening. Let’s break it down. If you have been looking to … [Read more...] about An Easy Explanation Of What Happens When The Federal Reserve Bank Raises Interest Rates

Ignore The Debate Over Whether The Inflation Reduction Act Raises Taxes On Those Making $400,000 Or Less

August 12, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As Congress is about to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, Washington is once again having a breathless debate over very little. This one is about whether Democrats are violating President Biden’s pledge to not raise taxes on households making $400,000 or less annually. But here’s the secret: This is yet another ridiculous political argument. The Tax Policy Center analyzed the big climate, health, and tax bill three different ways. The bill is quite progressive every time. On average, the after-tax incomes of low- and moderate-income households either would go up a bit or not change in any measurable way. The average after-tax incomes of high-income people would decline. But on average, the vast majority of households will barely notice any tax change, one way or the other. Effectively zero tax change In one TPC analysis , average taxes of middle-income households would fall by $100. In another, they’d go up … [Read more...] about Ignore The Debate Over Whether The Inflation Reduction Act Raises Taxes On Those Making $400,000 Or Less

After months of stalled negotiations, little agreement in either chamber of Congress, and a declaration that Build Back Better was dead, last week, Senate Democrats were able to make progress on not one, but two separate bills. The first, known as the CHIPS and Science Act, was a more bipartisan effort from the Senate that has generally been split down party lines. While the second, known as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), is Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Senator Joe … [Read more...] about Congress Vs. Inside Paris’ New Crop Of Chic Hotels: 8 Places To Stay

April 26, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Every season, Paris sees a whole new batch of hotels open their doors, which can make it hard to keep up. These last few months, the French capital has welcomed offshoots of international big hitters, including a Bvlgari hotel with a sense of service that'll be hard for other properties to match, and a first urban property for Cheval Blanc. Revamps of the Saint James chateau-hotel and historic Lancaster have also made it onto the list, as well as openings of smaller boutique hotels for explorers looking to put a different spin on the city. These frozen coffee pods are the future of barista-quality coffee at home

April 11, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

Each morning for the past two weeks, I’ve taken out a tiny aluminum capsule from my freezer. Inside is a small, frozen puck of coffee, which I pop in a glass and pour a few tablespoons of boiling water over from my kettle. As a Bostonian, I’ll drink iced coffee in a tundra, so I add ice cubes, top off the glass with almond milk and water, and toss the capsule into the recycling bin. And that’s the beauty of Cometeer . advertisement advertisement The new-ish company sells K-cup size capsules of flash-frozen brewed coffee, that are stashed in your freezer and reconstituted with hot water. They can also chill in your fridge or counter (or carry-on, as the company emphasizes, the capsules are TSA-compliant) for up to 24-hours and be added to cold water (or ice cream for affogato) once it melts. The capsules don’t explode or go bad if left defrosted, but the brand says the 24-hour window is when the “full complexity” is at its peak freshness.
