Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s the breakup that’s broken the hearts of reality TV fans — “Vanderpump Rules” stars Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix called it quits after nine years together following allegations of an affair between Sandoval and co-star Raquel Leviss. But while the drama has already played out between the now exes, the messy, emotional fallout is just getting started on the beloved Bravo series. With the first half of season 10 already over, a mid-season teaser trailer released Monday, March 20, gives fans a glimpse at what’s to come in the remaining episodes, including a chilling confrontation between Madix and Sandoval. But before the camera focuses in on the former partners, the clip shows cast member Scheana Shay sharing a blunt word with Leviss. “I was the O.G. home-wrecking whore of this group and then Lala, and now here you are,” Shay said casually while she and Leviss assembled jewelry. Is It Time To Own Up To Your Hearing Loss?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In March of every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) and people in the hearing industry celebrate and support a “World Hearing Day.” It’s been going on for decades and is generally used to raise awareness about hearing loss and inform listeners and readers about the options available to them – options for appliances that are available today to help people hear better. Of course, much of the hearing loss occurring around the world is associated with getting older. Since I suffer from mild hearing loss myself, I like to track and periodically share any new information I find. For the last few years, the big news has been about the ability to purchase hearing aids online and over-the-counter. More on that later in this post. I want to start with some guidance and wisdom from a couple of experts in the audiology world, Dr. Daniel Troast and Dr. Beki Kellogg. Dr. Troast is from HearUSA and Dr. Kellogg is from Hope … [Read more...] about Is It Time To Own Up To Your Hearing Loss?
‘Sustainable’ Electric Cars Are Getting Junked Over Minor Damage
Insurers are being forced to write off many electric vehicles with only minor damage to battery packs, sending the batteries to scrap yards and hindering the climate benefits of going electric, Reuters reported. Battery packs typically represent roughly half the cost of an electric vehicle, sometimes costing tens of thousands of dollars, often making it more economical for insurers to consider a car as totalled than replace a battery pack, according to Reuters. While many carmakers, including Ford and GM, told Reuters that their battery packs were repairable, many are unwilling to share key data with third-party insurers to help assess damage. (RELATED: Biden’s Energy Secretary Calls Going Green ‘The Greatest Peace Plan’ In History) “The number of cases is going to increase, so the handling of batteries is a crucial point,” Christoph Lauterwasser, managing director of the research institute Allianz Center for Technology, told Reuters. “If you throw away the vehicle at an … [Read more...] about ‘Sustainable’ Electric Cars Are Getting Junked Over Minor Damage
Busting That Chinese Spy Balloon Is Harder Than You Think (Updated: ‘Well That Was Easy’)
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Pentagon has been tracking a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon which flew over sensitive areas in Montana in recent days, apparently the latest of several such incursions. President Biden reportedly proposed that the intruder be shot down , but the Pentagon opposed this action, citing the risk of civilian casualties. In fact, bringing down this type of balloon may be extremely difficult, as it is likely to be highly resistant to the available weapons. It may look fragile, but the sheer size and construction of a stratospheric balloon makes it all but invulnerable. There is also the problem of getting to it. Such balloons ride high in the stratosphere , far above the airliners. They do this to take advantage of the change in wind direction with altitude to steer themselves to where they are needed like sailing ships, then circling above a point of interest. The U.S. military has its own stratospheric spy … [Read more...] about Busting That Chinese Spy Balloon Is Harder Than You Think (Updated: ‘Well That Was Easy’)
Genesis Revisits Archival Performances On ‘BBC Broadcasts’
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After a somewhat quiet start to the year, new archival rock and pop releases have popped up in the last months with some notable offerings from the likes of Genesis, Elton John, the Velvet Underground and more. Here’s the rundown: Genesis BBC Broadcasts (Rhino) Between 1970 and 1998, the BBC aired the music of Genesis exclusively as performance sessions and live concerts. Now those performances have been compiled for this new five-disc, 53-track box set curated by band co-founder Tony Banks, with most of this material unofficially unreleased until now. BBC Broadcasts is essentially a Genesis career summary beginning with the Peter Gabriel/progressive rock incarnation of the group that is the focus of Disc 1 (including “Watcher of the Skies,” “The Musical Box” “Stagnation”); the rest the material concentrates on the hugely classic and successful Tony Banks-Mike Rutherford-Phil Collins lineup that elevated the … [Read more...] about Genesis Revisits Archival Performances On ‘BBC Broadcasts’
Why CPAs Are Getting Rarer And Technology Is Not The Enemy
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin CEO & Co-founder of Trullion , AI-Powered Accounting Software that automates accounting workflows for CFOs, Controllers & Auditors. Accountants love numbers. So it is with much consternation that accountants in particular and business professionals in general have noted the decline in the number of CPAs , especially in the U.S. In 2019, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) most recent trends report showed that total projected accounting enrollments were down 4%, master's enrollments were down 6%, accounting graduates decreased by 4% and CPA Examination candidates had dropped by 7%. These are alarming statistics, and deserve an explanation. Moreover, the pandemic could be accelerating this trend. For example, many prospective accounting graduates currently in school have been forced to shift to an online or hybrid method of learning. Statistics show that retention rates … [Read more...] about Why CPAs Are Getting Rarer And Technology Is Not The Enemy
On CRM: Pipedrive’s Press Release Is Unnecessarily Misleading
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Pipedrive is a good CRM product. But unfortunately a recent press release from the company doesn't help its credibility. According to the statement's headline, Pipedrive reported "record sales growth among small business customers worldwide." At first when I read this headline I thought, wow, Pipedrive is crushing it with small businesses. But then I read further. And when you read further into the press release you learn that the company simply revealed that there was "record sales growth across its customer base” within the past year and that "on average, customers won a deal every second day with Pipedrive CRM, which is a key indicator in measuring the impact Pipedrive has on its purpose to help small businesses grow." The company also said that "despite the current macro-economic challenges, Pipedrive customers have achieved strong growth and momentum within a year. On average, small business customers won … [Read more...] about On CRM: Pipedrive’s Press Release Is Unnecessarily Misleading
Are Multifamily Prices Coming Down Soon?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Founder of Apartment Loan Store a Commercial Mortgage Firm. Author of “ The Encyclopedia of Commercial Real Estate Advice ," Publisher- Wiley. What a ride! For the past five years, apartment building owners hit the jackpot with their property values going up nationally by 37%, according to Marcus and Millichap. This was fueled by record rental increases of 13.5% in 2021 and 6.2% in 2022 and mortgage rates hitting their lowest ever in January 2021 . But this trend is seemingly slowing. According to CBRE, the average multifamily cap rate went up by 38 basis points to 4.49% in the last quarter of 2022, which means prices are starting to come down. And thank goodness! As a commercial mortgage banker specializing in multifamily financing nationally, 2022 was an extremely difficult year. It was a head-on collision between property values going up and mortgage rates going up. This produced smaller loan sizes, … [Read more...] about Are Multifamily Prices Coming Down Soon?
