Revealed: FC Barcelona’s Plan To Stop Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr In El Clasico
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin FC Barcelona need to devise a plan to stop Vinicius Jr when they meet Real Madrid in a Spanish Super Cup final installment of El Clasico on Sunday. The two La Liga giants meet in Riyadh tomorrow, after scraping past Valencia and Real Betis respectively in penalty shootouts this week. Even though the scorer of the winner in last year's Champions League final against Liverpool is out of sorts in recent weeks following World Cup last eight disappointment with Brazil in Qatar, Vinicius Jr still poses a threat to any opponent and Xavi Hernandez must find ways to stop him. With Sergino Dest having left to AC Milan on loan, Xavi doesn't have many natural right backs at his disposal. Sent to the stands ahead of the win over Betis, Hector Bellerin, as SPORT point out on Saturday, is practically an afterthought with his struggles against Bayern Munich suggesting he might not be cut out for the elite and speedy widemen … [Read more...] about Revealed: FC Barcelona’s Plan To Stop Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr In El Clasico
FC Barcelona Ready To Sell Eric Garcia, Listen To Offers – Reports
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin FC Barcelona are ready to sell Eric Garcia and will listen to offers for the defender in Janaury, according to a report. The Catalan returned to his boyhood club from Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. Immediately enjoying a prominent role in the plans of Ronald Koeman, Garcia also boasted protaganism in Xavi Hernandez's first XI when the Dutchman was fired less than midway through the 2021/2022 season. In 2022/2023, however, Garcia thought he would nail down a starting role on the back line when Gerard Pique announced his retirement in November. On the contrary, Garcia has enjoyed less playing time than ever since returning from a disappointing World Cup for Spain in Qatar where Luis Enrique's men were eliminated on penalties in the last 16 by underdogs and eventual semi-finalists Morocco. Garcia has racked up a mere 29 minutes on the pitch since club football resumed in late December. … [Read more...] about FC Barcelona Ready To Sell Eric Garcia, Listen To Offers – Reports
NRIs high-five NPCI decision to allow UPI on international mobile numbers
The daily limit for UPI transactions ranges between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1,00,000. The decision of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to let non-resident Indians (NRI) from select countries to use the UPI (United Payments Interface) to conduct transactions has been welcomed by the NRI community. Recollecting their earlier experience of standing in long ATM queues to withdraw cash using a debit card, some NRIs said the UPI could work very well for them. However, some said they had to go through a lengthy process to register and use the UPI in India. Shilpa Kolte, an NRI based out of Singapore, said that till now she had not been able to use the UPI as she does not have an Indian phone number. "I cannot use UPI as I do not have a local number mapped to a local bank account. Although UPI is convenient, you can get by with an Indian bank's debit card," Kolte tweeted. Well even for NRIs not necessary. Not having UPI is a mini blocker but you can get by within an … [Read more...] about NRIs high-five NPCI decision to allow UPI on international mobile numbers
Why Air India’s Revival Is A Metaphor For The Indian Economy
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I did something last month that I had not done for several decades—I flew on Air India. The national carrier, which had been the punchline of countless jokes, showed itself to be exactly the opposite of what so many passengers have come to expect in recent years. The domestic flight took off several minutes ahead of schedule and the ground and cabin crews exuded the quiet confidence evident in more established global carriers. It wasn’t so much surprising as it was shocking. In many ways, Air India’s revival can be viewed as a metaphor for the nation’s wider economy, which, depending on which expert you rely on, is either on the cusp of a major revival, "India’s decade” as investment bank Morgan Stanley proclaimed recently, or the country’s growth will fall short in helping lower-income citizens, as Raghuram Rajan, the economist and former central bank governor, recently noted in an article. Looking at Air India … [Read more...] about Why Air India’s Revival Is A Metaphor For The Indian Economy

Heineken USA CEO Maggie Timoney On Increasing Inclusion In The Alcohol Industry
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts remain top of the agenda for many companies in 2023. The 2022 FIFA World Cup showcased on a grand scale that DEI positions have to be much more than performative gestures, lest sponsoring brands experience backlash and accusations of hypocrisy . Whether it's getting tougher on bullying and harassment policies, or clearly spelling out what is and isn't okay in codes of conduct, there's a need for companies to be harder on the behaviors and attitudes that actively undermine DEI efforts. Reflecting on the recent World Cup, one sponsor that received a lot of attention was Budweiser. Qatar's decision to ban the sale of alcohol in and around the tournament stadiums just days before the event was surprising to both the brand and fans . But that spotlight also potentially puts additional attention on Budweiser's DEI policies. Which begs the question: Is the alcoholic beverage industry … [Read more...] about Heineken USA CEO Maggie Timoney On Increasing Inclusion In The Alcohol Industry

NBC News’ Chuck Todd and Republican Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson duked it out Sunday over Hunter Biden and potential media bias on “Meet The Press.” Johnson was discussing ongoing investigations being conducted alongside Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley into Hunter Biden when Todd asked Johnson to detail what crimes Hunter Biden allegedly committed. “I’ve yet to see anybody explain,” Todd said. “It is not a crime to make money off of your last name.” “Chuck, you ought to read the Marco Polo report, where they detail all kinds of potential crimes,” Johnson said. The Marco Polo report is a 634-page report detailing Hunter Biden’s alleged wrongdoings. “Let me stop you there,” Todd jumped in. “Potential is innuendo. That’s why you do investigation!” “Chuck, is it a crime to be soliciting and purchasing prostitution in potentially European sex trafficking operations?” Johnson asked. “Is that a crime? Because Chuck Grassley and I laid out about $30,000 paid by Hunter Biden … [Read more...] about ‘Go Back On Your Partisan Cable Cocoon’: Chuck Todd, Ron Johnson Get Into Feisty Exchange Over Hunter Biden
