May 14, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KANGAR (May 14): The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will not hesitate to take action such as revoking the retail business licences of individuals who sell or lease their business licences, especially in border towns. The irresponsible actions of some locals who sell or "rent" their business licences to foreigners are not only harmful to the country but also deprive others of a living just for the sake of easy profits. KPDNHEP secretary-general (sec-gen) Azman Mohd Yusof said his team takes a serious view of the matter after it was raised by local traders in the border towns in Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis following an influx of foreign traders after the recent reopening of the Malaysia-Thailand border. "For local traders who sell or rent their business licences to foreigners, their operating licences can be revoked by local authorities," he said when contacted by Bernama recently. Azman said the government only allows foreigners … [Read more...] about Do not sell or lease retail business licence for quick profits, warns ministry sec-gen

Tips For Small Businesses To Finance Their Holiday Marketing And Inventory Now

May 1, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The holiday shopping season is a critical time for most retailers. In fact, Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving that is generally regarded as the first day of the holiday shopping season, got its name because it traditionally begins the period when stores go from being “in the red” and “into the black” (profitability). Just how important is the holiday season to retailers? Although it varies by industry, some retailers are more dependent on fourth quarter sales than others. For instance, toy stores and jewelers stores typically generate more than one-third of their annual sales (35%) during the fourth quarter of the year, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Other retailers whose success hinges on a profitable fourth quarter include department stores, electronics stores, and clothing stores. While Christmas shopping seems like a long way off, small businesses must prepare for it now.
