Want to Invent Best-Selling Products? Innovate Like the Founder of Scrub Daddy

September 25, 2017 by www.inc.com

Shark Tank star Aaron Krause -- the energetic inventor and founder of the bestselling sponge Scrub Daddy -- has been releasing new products at a relentless clip this year. First, there was Eraser Daddy , Scrub Daddy's take on the famous eraser material popularized by Mr. Clean. Heat-compressed and dual-sided, Eraser Daddy is designed to last longer. Two months ago, he launched Scour Daddy , which improves upon the typical scouring pad that has remained unchanged for decades. It was quickly picked up by every Walmart in the country. Next up came Screen Daddy , a circular microfiber pad for cleaning your electronic devices that you can conveniently store directly on them. It's currently available in Bed Bath & Beyond as well as Kroger stores. Last month, when Krause debuted Daddy Caddy and Sponge Caddy -- plastic containers for storing Scrub Daddy products -- they completely sold out at Bed Bath & Beyond stores. That's not it. On October … [Read more...] about Want to Invent Best-Selling Products? Innovate Like the Founder of Scrub Daddy

Visiting The World’s Tallest Tree Could Now Land You In Jail

August 9, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin We humans have a long held fascination for the most extreme things – the biggest, the fastest, the oldest, the rarest and of course, from mountain to building to tree, the tallest. Which is why Hyperion is such a special draw, tempting those who like to experience such extremes to beat a path to its 380 feet (115 meters) of towering trunk, branch and leaf. But Hyperion’s scale and notoriety have brought problems to its surroundings, deep in the forests of Northern California. A coastal redwood located in a remote part of Redwoods National and State Park far from the well-worn trails, Hyperion was first first found by two amateur naturalists in 2006, park manager for natural resources Leonel Arguello told the Associated Press . But by 2010, its location had been shared online creating an influx of enthusiasts trampling their way through areas not intended for park visitors. In 2019, Guinness World Records certified it … [Read more...] about Visiting The World’s Tallest Tree Could Now Land You In Jail

Opinion: Putin’s prisoner swap calculus

Jill Dougherty is adjunct professor at Georgetown University and a former CNN Moscow Bureau Chief. The views expressed in this commentary are her own. View more opinion on CNN. (CNN) Some of the most dramatic -- and diplomatically delicate -- moments in United States-Russia relations are linked to prisoner exchanges. Jill Dougherty February 10, 1962: In a Cold War, Hollywood-style trade on the Glienicke Bridge between Berlin and Potsdam, two men -- an American and a Soviet -- walked in opposite directions across what would decades later be known as the "Bridge of Spies." They were Francis Gary Powers, the American pilot of a spy plane shot down over the USSR, and Soviet KGB colonel Rudolph Abel, who had served five years in the US on espionage charges. More than half a century later, Vladimir Putin, a former KGB officer, certainly knows the value of prisoner swaps. Biden signs chips bill, unleashing subsidies for US production

August 10, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A (Aug 9): President Joe Biden signed into law a broad competition Bill on Tuesday that includes about US$52 billion to boost domestic semiconductor research and development, calling it a “once-in-a-generation investment in America itself”. “We need to make these chips here in America to bring down everyday costs and create jobs,” said Biden at a signing ceremony for the CHIPS and Science Act on the White House South Lawn, joined by executives from US semiconductor firms and congressional leaders. Biden said he had visited the US facility where Javelin missiles were made and said the Bill would make the nation less reliant on other countries to provide the advanced chips needed for those weapons systems, as well as other products. “Unfortunately, we produce 0% of these advanced chips and China is trying to move way ahead of us to manufacture these sophisticated chips as well,” said Biden. “It’s no wonder the Chinese Communist Party actively lobbied US … [Read more...] about Biden signs chips bill, unleashing subsidies for US production

ANALYSIS: A Dem Dark Horse Has The Power To Trample The GOP In 2024

July 8, 2022 by dailycaller.com

The Democratic Party won’t allow President Joe Biden to have the final word on whether he’ll be the party’s candidate in 2024. The door is conveniently open for other candidates to make their case on why Biden should step aside, and Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom seems to be doing just that. Newsom is a true Progressive Democrat who handily defeated a recent recall election and looks poised to win reelection for a second term in November. The California Democrat signaled his quest to become the Democratic Party’s 2024 Presidential nominee over the July 4th weekend when he paid Fox News $105,000 to air ads during their Independence Day programing to urge Floridians to move to California, according to CNN. “It’s Independence Day. So let’s talk about what’s going on in America. Freedom is under attack in your state. Your Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors,” Newsom … [Read more...] about ANALYSIS: A Dem Dark Horse Has The Power To Trample The GOP In 2024

Swiss Tech Firm Bcomp’s Natural Flax Fiber Forms A Modern Rei Icon

August 9, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Rei was an inspiring project and a touch ahead of its time. In 2009, Japanese material firm Tras engaged the renowned product designer Keita Shimizu to create a chair that uniquely showcased its advanced carbon composite craftsmanship. The duo drew inspiration from Japan’s long history of composite work and lacquering, while the chair’s execution paid homage to the 1,300-year-old Ashura statue — a national treasure made entirely from composites. Tras has now engaged the Swiss tech materials innovator Bcomp to do something similar using its award-winning ampliTex natural fibers for a Rei chair with sustainability credentials. Bcomp’s fiber composite solution is derived from nature but rivals artificial carbon fiber in agility and toughness. Plus, it adds a novel technical aesthetic to the chair. As one of the country’s leading composite specialists, Tras works primarily on race cars and motorcycles. Opinion: Biden’s Afghanistan exit decision looks even worse a year later

(CNN) In 1961, after a CIA-backed invasion of Cuba failed spectacularly, President John F. Kennedy said of the Bay of Pigs fiasco, "Victory has 100 fathers and defeat is an orphan." Peter Bergen Last week, President Joe Biden took a victory lap when he announced that the US had tracked down and killed its most wanted terrorist, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, who was living in a house in Kabul, Afghanistan. Don't expect a similar celebration on August 30, the first anniversary of the US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, which ended the longest war in American history.
