- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Signature International Bhd and its largest shareholder-cum-chairman Datuk Seri Chiau Beng Teik have emerged as the largest shareholders of Fiamma Holdings Bhd after acquiring a combined 29.59% equity interest in Fiamma. The 29.59% stake or 150 million shares, was acquired from Fiamma's chief executive officer and group managing director, Lim Choo Hong, at RM1.50 per share. Following the disposal of shares in Fiamma, Lim ceased to be a substantial shareholder in Fiamma, holding a 0.413% direct equity interest and 0.118% indirect interest in the company. A filing with Bursa Malaysia showed that Signature had entered into a conditional share sale agreement (SSA) with Lim, to acquire 120 million shares or 23.67% equity interest for RM180 million cash. Parliamentary panel terms drone ‘misuse’ a significant threat, asks MHA to create anti-drone tech

While claiming that “drone technology poses a significant threat to governments…”, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to create a pool of anti-drone technology and let all States and Union Territories access it. The committee also sought and received information from several States, including West Bengal and Punjab, regarding the steps taken to deal with drone attacks. These recommendations and inquiries are part of the committee's 237th report on Police — Training, Modernisation and Reforms, released in February 2022. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), chair of the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, said the committee does not expect to call former President Donald Trump or former Vice President Mike Pence as witnesses, Politico reporter Kyle Cheney said on Twitter on Tuesday, marking a shift from earlier statements that Trump was not off-limits from the committee’s subpoenas. Pentagon reports increase in UFO numbers over last 20 years
US officials say the number of unidentified flying objects reported in the last 20 years has increased, according to an AFP report. Scott Bray, a director of Naval intelligence, says there has been an increase in the numbers of unidentified objects in certain areas. “Since the early 2000s, we have seen an increasing number of unauthorised and/or unidentified aircraft or objects in military-controlled training areas and training ranges and other designated airspace.” Bray says the US military’s efforts to remove the stigma from reporting UFOs could well be behind the increase. It can also be attributed to advances in technology. However, Bray insists the Pentagon has not found anything to suggest that the objects are not from this planet.
