Editor Daily Rundown: Biden Invokes Emergency War Powers To Build Solar Panels
BIDEN INVOKES EMERGENCY WAR POWERS TO BUILD SOLAR PANELS… NY POST: Biden draws heat for invoking Defense Production Act to boost solar panels President Biden drew criticism Monday after invoking the Defense Production Act to potentially expedite the production of solar panels — with journalists and Republicans questioning the rationale for using special wartime powers. Renewable energy advocates, meanwhile, cheered the White House announcement that Biden would invoke the act “to accelerate domestic production of clean energy technologies, including solar panel parts.” […] The Biden administration did not specify a national-defense reason for using the act to boost solar panels. Biden cleared to resume public events after negative Covid-19 test
Joe Biden - A + A WASHINGTON (Aug 7): US President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 for a second consecutive day, ending more than two weeks spent mostly self-isolating at the White House. The latest antigen test for Biden, 79, came back negative on Sunday morning, presidential physician Kevin O'Connor said in a letter released by the White House. "He will safely return to public engagement and presidential travel," the doctor said. "I'm feeling great," Biden told reporters outside the White House. Biden's diagnosis, including a so-called rebound case after he received Pfizer Inc's antiviral drug Paxlovid, has hampered his political schedule ahead of midterm elections in November, although he has done a series of virtual events. Even before the doctor's letter was released, Biden headed from the White House to his beach home in Delaware on Sunday. On Monday, he and first lady Jill Biden plan to travel to Kentucky to visit communities hit by deadly … [Read more...] about Biden cleared to resume public events after negative Covid-19 test
Gavin Newsom’s Needling Of GOP Governors Will Be Paid For By Taxpayers
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) made national news for his recent TV ad campaign encouraging Floridians to move to California based on his claim that the Golden State is a bastion of freedom. Newsom’s Florida ads have since been the subject of mockery and derision, with Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and others pointing out California has lost thousands of former residents and millions of dollars of wealth to Florida in recent years. In fact, from 2019 to 2020 alone, California saw a net outmigration of more than 11,500 people to Florida, who took $1.9 billion in annual income with them. “While Governor Newsom breaks his own laws to dine at French Laundry as ordinary Californians suffer under his rule, he continues to lose the remaining sane residents of his state. Where do they go? They come to Florida,” said Sal Nuzzo, vice president of policy at the James Madison Institute, a Florida-based think tank. “Today, 30 … [Read more...] about Gavin Newsom’s Needling Of GOP Governors Will Be Paid For By Taxpayers

Golez filed House Bill No. 1709, or the proposed Vote-Buying is a Heinous Crime Act, to “send a strong message to the electorate and the would-be elected officials that Filipinos have had enough of vote-buying during elections.” The proposed measure has been referred to the House committee on justice. In his explanat0ry note, Golez said, “the right to suffrage is so important that it has its own article in the Constitution. However, the various reports showing rampant vote-buying in the recent elections have diminished the significance of the right to suffrage.” According to Golez, he believes “elections is the most important ingredient in nation-building, therefore, the sanctity of the Filipino vote must be ensured.” “It is about time for … [Read more...] about Lawmaker: Declare vote-buying a heinous crime
Suspended Florida Prosecutor Accuses Governor DeSantis Of ‘Illegal Overreach’
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline Florida state attorney Andrew Warren accused Governor Ron DeSantis (R) of “spit[ting] in the face of” voters on Thursday by suspending him for vowing not to criminalize abortion and gender-affirming care, a move the prosecutor argued constitutes an “illegal overreach” and power grab as the GOP governor eyes a presidential run. Key Facts DeSantis announced Thursday that he had suspended Warren, who oversaw the state’s 13th judicial circuit, for “neglect of duty” and believing that he “thinks he has the authority to defy the Florida Legislature and nullify . . . criminal laws with which he disagrees.” Warren hit back in a statement , calling the act a “political stunt” and accusing DeSantis of “using his office to further his own political ambition,” going against voters who “elected me to serve them, not Ron DeSantis.” The order suspending Warren pointed to a June 2021 letter he and other … [Read more...] about Suspended Florida Prosecutor Accuses Governor DeSantis Of ‘Illegal Overreach’
