Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Activision and Infinity Ward are doing something new this year with Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II, the sequel to 2019’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. (No, this is not a remake of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 !) Included in this year’s pre-order bonuses is a new perk: A week of free early access to the Modern Warfare II campaign. Pre-ordering the game will unlock the campaign a week before the full game’s October 28th launch, so you can get familiar with the story and mechanics and characters all before multiplayer goes live. This is a clever idea for a number of reasons. First off, a lot of people don’t play the campaign. They just hop into multiplayer and never look back. Releasing the campaign for a week into Early Access may convince more Call Of Duty players to give it a shot. After all, a week is more than enough time to finish the average campaign in this franchise. They’re rarely … [Read more...] about You Can Play ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II’ A Week Early, Sort Of

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The wait is almost over. The House Of The Dragon premiere is slated to air on HBO and HBO Max this Sunday, August 21st at 9pm ET. The final, controversial episode of Game Of Thrones aired on May 19th, 2019 on HBO in a world that looks very different from the world we live in now. A year later, many of the world’s economies would grind to a halt as restaurants and schools and businesses shutdown in the face of an unprecedented global pandemic. Work on shows like House Of The Dragon, the prequel spinoff to Game Of Thrones, would grind to a halt or, at the very least, slow to a crawl. So what is House of the Dragon and why should fans—including disenchanted fans upset with how Game Of Thrones ended—be excited about this new show? Read on for everything you need to know about House of the Dragon and why I, for one, think everyone should be genuinely hyped for what’s to come. Missionary group cries foul over terrorist financing raps vs members
CALL FOR JUSTICE Members of the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines demand justice for Fr. Marcelito “Tito” Paez, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Monday in Jaen, Nueva Ecija, during a condemnation rally at Jamboree Rotunda on Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City in this photo taken in 2017. —GRIG C. MONTEGRANDE MANILA, Philippines – The Rural Missionaries of the Philippines (RMP) denounced what it said was a “Marcosian state attack” against some of its members, who are facing non-bailable charges for allegedly financing the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). The Department of Justice earlier indicted 16 individuals, including four RMP nuns, claiming that the group’s bank accounts showed that those involved “made funds available to the CPP-NPA.” READ: Members of church-based org face non-bailable raps for terror financing In a statement on Thursday, the RMP called the move a “part of [the] worsening state repression against … [Read more...] about Missionary group cries foul over terrorist financing raps vs members
‘Destiny 2’ Has ‘Wall-To-Wall Bangers Lined Up,’ Says Bungie
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s that time again, where I collect some Bungie-based hype heading into the next season of Destiny 2. Once again we find ourselves in a similar situation where we know almost nothing about the actual content of season 18, only this time, it’s being revealed in a showcase alongside additional Lightfall expansion info, and the hype train is starting to gain steam. Nuns in the crosshairs
Calling himself “a bit feminist,” Pope Francis has pictured what the church would be like without the consecrated women religious: “It would be missing maternity, affection, tenderness, and a mother’s intuition.” Hereabouts, some nuns who are ministering to needy, neglected communities in remote places feel they are being surveilled, if not persecuted, by government forces. I say forces because they are a fearsome lot, their words alone can translate into making life difficult for these women who have vowed to serve. Sometime back, I did write a piece (“Catholic women religious in the trenches,” 7/12/2018) describing the difficult but liberating work nuns are doing here and all over the world. They are in the news again. Inquirer news headline on Aug. 16, 2022: “Four nuns, 12 others charged with channeling funds to Reds.” The report said: “The Department of Justice (DOJ) has found probable cause to indict 16 individuals, including four nuns, for allegedly channeling funds to the … [Read more...] about Nuns in the crosshairs

Refugee camp in Mumbai's GTB Nagar area where Punjabis and Sindhi were rehabilitated after coming from Pakistan during the partition in August 1947. (Photo credits: Mehul R Thakkar) Mahendra Kumar Thapar, a first-generation refugee, shifted to Mumbai when he was three years old. Thapar, now 78, says his family left behind a comfortable life wherein they owned acres of land and several houses in Hazara district of Pakistan and shifted to India becoming a refugee during the partition. Thapar, along with his family, were among thousands of other Punjabis and Sindhis who chose to move to the Indian side during the partition following India’s independence in August 1947. Thapar, like others, was allotted a house of around 40 square yard (360 sq ft) in Central Mumbai's Sion Koliwada area also known as Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar or Punjabi Colony. Beginning 1957, the government settled over 1,200 refugee families in around 1,200 apartments spread over 25 buildings that were constructed … [Read more...] about [email protected]: 75 years after Partition, Mumbai’s GTB Nagar ‘refugee’ colony residents struggle for redevelopment
Women-Only Coworking Spaces Are Having a Huge Moment. Here’s Why They’re Here to Stay.
Working from home certainly has its perks; but in the past few years, coworking spaces have become a seriously desirable alternative. My own company Masthead Media is based out of a coworking space, and we love the flexibility it offers us (our employees can work from any of its 90+ locations around the world). Beyond location independence, shared offices deliver valuable business resources, networking opportunities, and -- perhaps most enticingly -- a place to work that requires you to change out of your PJs. Despite the benefits, many female entrepreneurs weren't sold on their shared environments--perhaps because so many of the spaces were dominated by men. Enter: women-only coworking spaces. This trend-within-a-trend has been picking up serious steam, with new offices popping up all over the U.S. (and the world). In the #MeToo era, when conversations surrounding workplace harassment continue to take center stage, these hubs aim to offer a more safe and … [Read more...] about Women-Only Coworking Spaces Are Having a Huge Moment. Chillhouse Goes Global With New Parisian Location In Galeries Lafayette
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When it comes to the entrepreneurial journey, there is something to be said about the importance of creating a 5-year business plan. Turns out, there is also something to be said for trusting the power of serendipity and intuition, in addition to planning. With a flagship location in Soho and a burgeoning wholesale brand, Chillhouse is strategically expanding on a global level, starting with its recent opening in Paris’ iconic department store, Galeries Lafayette. Founder, CEO and “Queen of Chill” Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton always had Chillhouse’s international expansion as part of the master plan, but a specific strategy hadn’t been solidified when the opportunity with Galeries Lafayette came about last year. “Chillhouse never really adhered to some sort of rulebook,” Ramirez-Fulton explains. “I've never said, Let me grab something out of the playbook of startups. That's just not who I am, nor is it how I want to … [Read more...] about Chillhouse Goes Global With New Parisian Location In Galeries Lafayette
