Lamborghini In “Best Shape Ever,” CEO Says. Next Up: Plug-In Hybrids And EVs

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There’s an 18-month waiting list for new Lamborghinis , a brand that made its reputation selling gasoline-burning, high-performance supercars — yet like the rest of the auto industry, Lamborghini will wean itself off internal-combustion engines and switch to plug-in hybrids and eventually, electric vehicles . “In the year 2022 Lamborghini is in the best shape ever,” Stephan Winkelmann , chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said in a recent phone interview, to discuss 2022 results and the outlook for 2023 and beyond. Lamborghini delivered an all-time record 9,233 new vehicles in 2022, an increase of about 10% vs. 2021. It was the first time Lamborghini delivered more than 9,000 units in a year. U.S. deliveries were also a record 2,721 in 2022, likewise up 10%. Lamborghini belongs to parent company Volkswagen AG’s premium brand group, which also includes Audi and Bentley luxury-car brands, and … [Read more...] about Lamborghini In “Best Shape Ever,” CEO Says. Europe Looks To Allow Synthetic Fuels For Cars After All

March 21, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The sounds of silence may not be coming for next decade’s supercars after all, with the European Commission (EC) drafting a law to allow “e-fuels” in combustion engines after the zero-emission cut-off date in 2035. Germany’s automotive industry reacted furiously to the EC’s plan to force all new cars sold by 2035 to be zero-emissions, either by BEV or hydrogen fuel-cell (FCEV) power. It has been lobbying other countries and the EC itself to force them to allow the use of “e-fuels”, or synthetic fuels that are carbon neutral, even when used in combustion engines. It seems as though Germany may have succeeded, because a draft proposal has been circulating around the European Commission in the hopes of placating Germany, in particular, but also Italy. The draft regulation sees a new type of vehicle category added to the post-2035 list for cars that can only use carbon-neutral fuels, with software-driven blockers that … [Read more...] about Europe Looks To Allow Synthetic Fuels For Cars After All

How Midsize Companies Build Supply Chain Resiliency And Sustainability

March 16, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Watching how language evolves and shapes people's mindsets, priorities, and attitudes can be fun for fans of wordplay and slang. And we're definitely seeing such shifts in American English, as Merriam-Webster added a staggering 370 words to its dictionary a few months ago. The same can be said for supply chain organizations of midsize companies. For years, words such as "profitability," "costs," and "efficiency" routinely came up in everyday conversation. But now, "resiliency" and "sustainability" are increasingly finding their way into supply chain leaders' daily vocabulary, too – impacting most initiatives, objectives, and long-range strategies. According to the SAP Insights research center , surveyed midsize organizations are including supply chain resiliency and sustainability in their improvement strategies for profitable revenue growth, efficiency, and mitigation of risks such as soaring costs. This shift in … [Read more...] about How Midsize Companies Build Supply Chain Resiliency And Sustainability

McLaren Applied Wants To Lead The Fourth Wave Of Electric Vehicles

March 18, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin You would need to be very much in denial not to notice that EVs have been taking the automotive market by storm in the last couple of years. Sales grow every month, and the tipping point is fast approaching when all-electric becomes the dominant vehicle type. Electrified vehicles of all types, including hybrids, already have passed 50% of the market in the UK . But most people agree that some of the joy of driving has been lost on the way. McLaren Applied wants to put the fun back, in what it is calling the “fourth wave” of EVs. McLaren Applied used to be the technology wing of McLaren, the “third leg of a stool” as company Chairman Nick Fry describes it. The first leg was the Formula One racing team, and the second the premium performance road cars. “We realized we were developing a lot of technology that could be sold to the outside world,” he says. “McLaren Applied was ahead of the curve and then this company got into a … [Read more...] about McLaren Applied Wants To Lead The Fourth Wave Of Electric Vehicles

March 7, 2016 by dailycaller.com

Florida police tased Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason after he refused to cooperate during a traffic stop on Saturday. According to ESPN , Mason refused to provide personal identification after being pulled over going 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. Officer Lester Cochenour said he “smelled marijuana in Mason’s Porsche” and “warned the defendant if he did not identify himself he would be subject to arrest and he smirked as he was making eye contact.” After Officer Cochenour placed Mason under arrest, the former Auburn star braced himself in the car and showed “great resistance” when additional officers tried to remove him. “The defendant was warned several times in a composed voice to stop resisting, exit the vehicle and if he did not comply with arrest, a Taser would be used,” Cochenour wrote in his report. Mason earned the Rams’ starting job after being selected in the third round of the 2014 draft. He totaled 765 yards and four touchdowns during his rookie … [Read more...] about NFL Running Back Tased, Arrested In Florida [VIDEO]

Volkswagen Positive For 2023 Profits, But Doubts Build

March 19, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Volkswagen ’s share price stormed ahead after it unveiled positive forecasts for profits in 2023 earlier this month but later stalled after it revealed ambitious spending plans for its electric vehicles, and bottom-line implications for the European auto market turned ugly. Tesla’s price war is also shaking up the profitability outlook for competing electric cars, with VW in the eye of the storm. Earlier this month Volkswagen said 2023 sales will rise by between 10-15%, and the operating profit margin will be between 7.5 and 8.5% compared with 7.9% in 2022. VW’s shares spurted ahead by about 13 points to just over €142, as investors’ automotive industry expectations turned positive. Last week, VW announced a €180 billion ($191 billion), 5-year spending plan including battery production plans and ambitious ideas for the U.S. The mood soured on the stock market as the share price slid back to just over €120 on … [Read more...] about Volkswagen Positive For 2023 Profits, But Doubts Build
