President Joe Biden and his administration have made a number of blatantly false statements, telling the American people inaccuracies pertaining to the COVID-19 vaccine, Afghanistan, gun rights and more. This list highlights his top false statements. Corn Pop Biden, vice president at the time in 2017, claimed he got into an altercation with a black man named “Corn Pop” and threatened him with chains in 1962 while he was a swimming pool security guard. Biden’s colorful story about his altercation with “Corn Pop” went viral in 2019 after it resurfaced. Evidence came out seeming to support Biden’s claims, including an obituary for a man going by “Corn Pop” in Wilmington, Delaware, and former state NAACP President Richard “Mouse” Smith corroborating the story. Still, it’s hard to believe that the story unfolded entirely how Biden described it. “Corn Pop was a bad dude and he ran a bunch of bad boys,” Biden said, recalling that Corn Pop was going against the rules and … [Read more...] about ANALYSIS: From Corn Pop To Gas Prices: A List Of Biden’s Biggest Lies

Editors Daily Rundown: Another Inflation Explosion
ANOTHER INFLATION EXPLOSION… CNBC: Inflation rose 9.1% in June, even more than expected, as price pressures intensify Shoppers paid sharply higher prices for a variety of goods in June as inflation kept its hold on a slowing U.S. economy, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday. The consumer price index, a broad measure of everyday goods and services, soared 9.1% from a year ago, above the 8.8% Dow Jones estimate. That marked another month of the fastest pace for inflation going back to December 1981. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, so-called core CPI increased 5.9%, compared to the 5.7% estimate. On a monthly basis, headline CPI rose 1.3% and core CPI was up 0.7%, compared to respective estimates of 1.1% and 0.5%. Taken together, the numbers seemed to counter the narrative that inflation may be peaking, as the gains were based across a variety of categories. Energy transition inevitable in ensuring energy security
- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 14): The transition to clean energy is inevitable as the world moves towards reversing the impact of climate change, while simultaneously strengthening energy security to hedge against external uncertainties, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict’s impact on the energy sector. TNB Generation Sdn Bhd (TNB Genco) chief operating officer Datuk Ir Roslan Abd Rahman said Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) plans to reduce its dependency on coal by 50% by 2035 and is seriously looking into renewable energy sources such as hydrogen and ammonia. “We do not want to be dependant on a single source to generate electricity. Renewable energy such as hydrogen is more secure now, as we need to import coal from producing countries such as Indonesia. “We will have a problem if Indonesia stops exporting its coals,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of a media visit to TNB’s hydropower stations in Cameron Highland recently. Also present were TNB head of state … [Read more...] about Energy transition inevitable in ensuring energy security
Russian tourists to Finland greeted with Ukrainian anthem
Tourists gather on the bridge over the Vuoksi river near The Imatra Rapids in Imatra, Finland, on August 12, 2022. AFP LAPPEENRANTA, Finland — A crowd of people gathers in the Eastern Finnish city of Imatra on a bridge overlooking Imatrankoski rapids, one of the Nordic country’s most well-known natural attractions. At the same time every day, the river’s almost century-old dam is opened and water rushes under the bridge, to the sound of music by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. It is a popular attraction especially for Russian tourists. Even Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, visited Imatrankoski in 1772. But since the end of July, the city of Imatra has started the show by playing the Ukrainian national anthem, to protest the Russian invasion. Finland, which shares 1,300-kilometer (800-mile) eastern border with Russia, is also preparing to limit tourist visas issued for Russians. “This is bad for the Russians who love Finland,” says Mark Kosykh, a 44-year-old Russian … [Read more...] about Russian tourists to Finland greeted with Ukrainian anthem

Customers Don’t Care About Streaming Wars – They Just Want Their Content
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Video killed the radio star, and streaming services will soon kill television. Are streaming services the next industry to be disrupted? The average cable package in America is $217.42 per month. The average household spends $205.50 per month on all major utilities combined including electricity, gas, water, sewage, and garbage. For a money strapped customer, they are going to look at where they can cut costs. Netflix costs $15 dollars per month, and this week Disney+ announced it is raising its premium subscription to $10.99 per month. EU, South Korea say US plan for EV tax breaks may breach WTO rules
The European Union and South Korea have raised concerns about proposed U.S. tax credits for purchases of electric vehicles, saying they may discriminate against foreign-made vehicles and breach World Trade Organization (WTO) rules. Under the $430 billion climate and energy bill passed by the U.S. Senate on Sunday, Congress would lift the cap on the existing $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchasers but impose restrictions, including barring vehicles not assembled in North America from receiving the credit. The ban on tax credits for vehicles assembled outside of North America would take effect as soon as President Joe Biden signs the legislation. The proposed legislation also includes provisions aimed at preventing use of battery components or critical minerals derived from China. "We think it's discriminatory, that it is discriminating against foreign producers in relation to U.S. producers," said European Commission spokesperson Miriam Garcia Ferrer. "Of course … [Read more...] about EU, South Korea say US plan for EV tax breaks may breach WTO rules

The House passes the Inflation Reduction Act: Here’s what it means for business
House Democrats voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act today, sending the bill to President Biden to sign into law. The sweeping $430 billion package, which came back from the dead a few weeks ago after Democrats made concessions to woo West Virginia senator Joe Manchin, represents the most concerted effort yet by the U.S. government to combat climate change, with more than $36o billion going into climate action alone. It also includes measures to lower healthcare costs and raise and enforce taxes for large companies and high-income individuals, to fund the climate investments. Climate analysts estimate that the bill could reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by between 31% and 44% below 2005 levels by 2030. advertisement Among the far-reaching impacts of the bill: It could help supercharge climate startups by bringing down the cost of mass adoption for green technologies. The bill offers households tax credits of up to 30% for improving the energy efficiency of … [Read more...] about The House passes the Inflation Reduction Act: Here’s what it means for business
