September 23, 2021 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Most freelance creatives are eager to find more ways to build their reputation and generate income. We know that creative life can be incredibly satisfying, but also economically and reputationally challenging. A few creatives who work on the Patreon platform, the largest and best known creative community, make a great deal of money. But the vast majority do not. No surprise then, creatives are eager to find adjacent ways to increase income and reputation, something I’ve written about before. In this piece we dig into how creatives can add income by authoring subscription newsletters. A recent article in the NYT described the opportunity to generate impressive income; in some cases, more than $500k annually. Here’s how the NYT described one successful newsletter writing family: “Mr. Lavery already has about 1,800 paying subscribers to his Substack newsletter, The Shatner Chatner, whose most popular piece is … [Read more...] about Freelancers, More Ways To Achieve Your Goals: Making Money As A Newsletter Writer

On January 16, the media rights for the first five seasons of the Women’s Premier League, beginning this March, were acquired by Viacom18 Media for a staggering Rs 951 crore – which translates to roughly Rs 7.09 crore per match. Less than ten days later, on January 25, the five teams were bought for a cumulative Rs 4,669.99 crore. The coup de grace , of course, came on Sunday (January 29), when India were crowned champions of the inaugural Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup. To say that women’s cricket is riding the crest of a wave in the country would be a gross understatement. Making Native Marketing Work For You

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Joe Burton is the CEO of ROI Marketplace LLC. According to data collected by Google in 2020, the average click-through rate for digital display ads was a mere 0.1% . While some industries boast higher numbers, experts agree these statistics don’t account for bot clicks, which drive up purported ad engagement. If you’re an ad-tech vendor or marketer who stakes their professional reputation on producing ad campaigns that drive clicks, engagement, and conversion, this is probably not great news. What to do? For many companies, the dismal click-through rate of standard display ads may be reason enough to explore native marketing. A brief primer for the uninitiated: Native advertisements are paid content that appear on websites, such as news or culture sites, and mimic their form, content, style, even tone—sometimes blending in so effectively that they cannot be immediately distinguished from the organic content … [Read more...] about Making Native Marketing Work For You

Three Ways Organizations Can Improve Their Cybersecurity Posture Without Spending Money

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Fene Osakwe is one of Africa's most sought-after cybersecurity advisors. From my observations over the years, I've found that when thought leaders, consultants and industry experts give advice, recommendations or opportunities for improvement to companies in regard to cybersecurity, it almost always seems to be about what the organization should "establish," "purchase" or "implement." It's just something to "do." This can be a turn-off for many executives, as it just seems to be an endless expenditure on cyber—and there's still the conversation about how to measure the return on these huge cyber investments. This made me think: Are there some things organizations need to stop doing to improve their cybersecurity posture? Must it always be about something to start doing? In my experience working with other professionals, I've found there are three things that organizations can stop doing to improve their … [Read more...] about Three Ways Organizations Can Improve Their Cybersecurity Posture Without Spending Money

What Will Make Work Work In 2023?

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s been an interesting start to the year. As knowledge workers emerge bleary-eyed from the way workplaces have been transformed over the past few years, employees and leaders alike still seem to be struggling to find their footing. What’s increasingly clear is the way work is not working. In the midst of mass tech layoffs , a continued childcare crisis , quiet quitting vs. downsizing fears, and the are-we or are-we-not in a recession dance, it’s challenging to predict what the future of work looks like without getting whiplash. So how can leaders, from large organizations to small startups, address employees in a moment filled with such uncertainty? How can they continue to future-proof their workforces when the future seems so unpredictable? In conversations with today’s top leaders, six key themes bubbled to the surface. Flexibility, control and trust will be key to building better relationships between … [Read more...] about What Will Make Work Work In 2023?

Consumers Demand Good-Fitting Jeans. These Brands Are Making Size-Inclusive Denim Happen

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Today’s shoppers are becoming more vocal about the need for expanded sizing in denim. “I’m desperate to spend my money on good jeans, and I’d pay extra to make sure they fit,” said Meg Murph , a shopper frustrated with limited denim sizing dubbed “standard.” Select brands are working toward greater size inclusivity—and finding it’s a solid business strategy with high growth potential. Brands doing this have an opportunity to capture an increasing market share. The plus-size market alone is anticipated to reach $697 billion by 2027, according to Allied Market Research . Those that succeed are focused on product innovation, according to Jessica Quillin, Ph.D., and co-founder of It’s A Working Title , a boutique strategy and research agency for fashion and luxury brands. “The recent shift toward ‘90s and Y2K-style denim—with lower rise jeans, baggier fits, and lighter washes—means innovating upon the … [Read more...] about Consumers Demand Good-Fitting Jeans. The ‘Spare’ Melee: Harry’s Family, The Press, The Taliban, And His Mission To Preach, No Matter What

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Despite Prince Harry’s confession that he cut his book’s manuscript from eight hundred pages to four hundred , it’s still fair to say that the world’s wayward prince might have ‘overshared’ in Spare . By that is not meant that trope about getting frostbite down in his nether regions, or that time he played strip billiards out in Vegas, or even that of losing his virginity out in back of a village pub. Bottom line, Harry can post any of that Huck-Finn-as-a-British-royal stuff any old time — they form a sort of picaresque valediction that he did somehow manage a real growing-up outside palace walls, even (or especially) as a member of one of the most privileged families on earth. All good on the extremities of youth, then. In Spare , Harry rounds every base with gusto. It showcases him with appetite for life that, however we may read or judge his actions, was ever on display by Harry in public and in private. That was the … [Read more...] about The ‘Spare’ Melee: Harry’s Family, The Press, The Taliban, And His Mission To Preach, No Matter What

25 Elon Musk Impersonator Scams On Social Media People Actually Fell For

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Social media is filled with countless scammers trying to capitalize on Elon Musk’s name. Just take a look under any of Musk’s tweets and you’ll see people promising crypto giveaways, which are actually just scams that siphon money away from users. But does anyone actually fall for these? Yes, they really do. And I’ve obtained the stories to prove it. I often file Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the FTC to learn about different complaints that consumers have with particular companies. Previously I’ve done this with FTX , Tinder and Canon just to name a few. It’s an interesting way to learn about customer service problems. But when I recently filed a FOIA request for complaints about Tesla, I received some documents that I didn’t expect. Many of the complaints were about Tesla, of course, and issues people were having with their cars, warranties and financing. But consumers were also complaining about … [Read more...] about 25 Elon Musk Impersonator Scams On Social Media People Actually Fell For
