It is also considering extending the service beyond the trial. The move can potentially pit the company against major e-commerce companies like Alibaba and Meituan. Julius Baer Group Ltd. sees India’s wealth market as a large opportunity even as private banking margins shrink globally, its top official in the country said. The nation’s $600 billion wealth industry is growing at 12% annually, and only a quarter of that wealth is currently managed professionally, Umang Papneja, managing director and chief executive of the Swiss wealth manager’s Indian unit, said in a Bloomberg TV interview on Thursday. “Julius Baer wants to be a part of that, and we are looking at aggressively ramping up the India business,” he said. In December, Delhi's AQI slipped into the 'severe' category on two days (PTI file photo) Delhi saw a significant dip in air pollution levels in the 2022-23 winter season owing to strict implementation of the 15-point action plan and a proactive Graded Response Action Plan, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference, Rai also said the AAP government in Punjab will scale up the use of bio-decomposer, a microbial solution which can turn paddy straw into manure in around three weeks, in the agrarian state. He said the Delhi government is conducting a pilot study to assess the impact of anti-air pollution steps taken at Anand Vihar, one of the 13 pollution hotspots in Delhi. ArcelorMittal Q4 net income declines 93% to $261 million
Source: Reuters Global steel giant ArcelorMittal has posted a 93.54 per cent fall in its net income to USD 261 million for the fourth quarter ended December 31 on account of lower sales. The Luxembourg-based company had posted a net income of USD 4,045 million in the year-ago period. In a statement, ArcelorMittal said it has "recorded a net income in 4Q 2022 of USD 261 million compared to...USD 4,045 million for 4Q 2021. Adjusted net income was USD 1,189 million compared to USD 3,827 million for 4Q 2021". Its steel production fell to 13.2 MT from 16.5 MT a year ago. The total steel shipments in 4Q 2022 stood at 12.6 MT, 19.9 per cent lower from 15.8 MT in the October-December period of 2021, reflecting the significantly lower demand due to destocking. [KT] KT decided to reopen the candidacy for its CEO post in a board meeting Thursday, restarting the candidate review process from scratch. This is the second time that the candidate selection process for the top post has restarted. The latest announcement came after the National Pension Service (NPS), the largest shareholder of KT, voiced opposition to the telecom company’s decision to select incumbent CEO Ku Hyeon-mo as the final and only candidate for the post in December. “The board of directors decided to restart the process for CEO appointment through an open competition,” said KT in a release Thursday. Doosan Corporation posts net loss of 587.3 billion won for 2022
Doosan Corporation, a holdings company of Doosan, posted a net loss of 587.3 billion won ($466 million) for 2022 on Thursday, swinging to red. The consolidated net loss is due to a one-off expense caused mainly by non-operating goodwill impairments, meaning that its asset was evaluated to be carrying less value than at the time of purchase, according to Doosan. The net figure missed the analyst forecast of 48.5 billion won in profit. Operating profit increased 22.5 percent to 1.13 trillion won, and sales came in at 17.1 trillion won, up 32 percent on year.
