Over the past decade, 3-D printing has transformed from a hobbyist or prototyping tool into an industrial-grade production process, referred to as additive manufacturing. Today, additively manufactured parts are everywhere—from visually appealing consumer goods to the inner workings of automobiles and jet engines. Yet, many engineers and product designers who work closely with other manufacturing methods are still learning about additive technologies and how to sort out today’s very real opportunities from yesterday’s significant limitations. Until recently, many additive manufacturing technologies couldn't produce end-use parts. But now, the additive manufacturing industry has developed new materials, techniques and technologies to become a true competitor to more traditional manufacturing processes like injection molding and CNC machining. Wall St rises as growth stocks gain after two days of selloff
- A + A NEW YORK/BENGALURU (May 20): US stock indexes rose on Friday led by megacap growth and healthcare shares at the end of a volatile week, roiled by concerns over the impact of rising inflation on earnings and the fallout of rate hikes on economic growth. Nine of the 11 major S&P sectors advanced in morning trade. Energy was the top performer, up 2.2%, followed by healthcare and technology sectors. Microsoft Corp, Amazon.com and Apple Inc rose between 1.5% and 1.8%, providing the biggest boost to the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq. "Some traders are taking advantage of the price weakness, at least in the short term, to make some money. The real question is whether this will last by the end of the day," Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA Research, said. "It is definitely going to be a traders' battle today. The market is trying to orchestrate at least a near-term relief rally, which is normal within bear market trends." Unlocking The Power Of Data: Making Better Business Decisions
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The key to better decision making is data. Effective leaders rely on data to make informed decisions and drive meaningful outcomes for their organizations. However, the process of unlocking data-driven insights is no small feat. Data doesn’t belong to individual departments—it’s an asset that benefits the entire organization. Advanced analytics requires the ability to access, manage, and combine data that’s stored in silos across the organization. As a result, multiple data formats and governance controls limit the accessibility and shareability of valuable information. Making better decisions means unifying data in a secure and well-governed way. Business leaders need to break down data silos, making all data securely available for analysis, regardless of where it lives in the organization. To make the most of data, organizations also need tools that empower individuals across the organization to interpret and … [Read more...] about Unlocking The Power Of Data: Making Better Business Decisions
The Power Of Machine Learning At The Edge
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin President and CEO at Volt Active Data, Inc . The future is at the edge. No matter which industry report you put your faith in, the edge computing market is poised to blow up. User expectations, IoT proliferation and 5G latency are converging to test the limits of physics. 5G squeezes the latency possibilities from 4G’s 200 milliseconds to single-digit milliseconds. This squeeze is 5G’s most exciting promise and the single-most-important reason to move computing workloads as close to the action as possible: onto edge sensors and devices or in edge data centers. Consider a healthcare IoT system. It collects patients’ vital data through sensors, analyzes it to spot anomalies, uses machine learning algorithms to make inferences and triggers a notification so caregivers can take appropriate actions in a timely manner. To be useful, all this has to happen in real time (i.e., within single-digit milliseconds). But … [Read more...] about The Power Of Machine Learning At The Edge
