Driverless cars could lead to even more cars on the roads than we have today. This is almost entirely down to the fact that people without licenses will be able to use cars without bumming a ride off anyone else, according to a new report from the University of Michigan Transportation Institute. advertisement advertisement There are a surprising number of people who don’t travel by car because they don’t have a drivers license. The reasons for not having a license are varied, say the report’s authors Michael Sivak and Brandon Schoettle, but in many cases, today’s non-drivers will become future “drivers,” because future cars will do their driving for them. The study looked at the number of new “drivers” likely to use autonomous vehicles, along with the distances they will travel. It found that we can expect 11% more traffic in extra journeys, but that the lengths and kinds of trips won’t change much at all. People will use … [Read more...] about In A Driverless Car Future, More People Will “Drive” Because They Don’t Need A License

These dockless e-bikes now offer you a helmet along with a ride
If you grab a dockless bike or scooter from a city sidewalk to run an errand, you’re unlikely to wear a helmet, at least in part because you’re unlikely to have one on hand. Wheels, a startup that makes shared electric bikes that can zip down streets at 22 miles an hour, now offers a free helmet locked on the back of each bike. advertisement advertisement “The data is overwhelming that helmet use is the best way to make micro-mobility safer, and we believe that integrating the helmet directly into the bike is the most practical and best solution to make this a reality,” says Joshua Viner, Wheels CEO. Scooters seem particularly risky. One study of 249 patients injured on scooters in Austin found that around 40% had head injuries, and two patients had head injuries severe enough to end up in intensive care units. The researchers found that 94% of riders in the area rode without helmets; only one of the injured patients was wearing a helmet. Other studies … [Read more...] about These dockless e-bikes now offer you a helmet along with a ride

Since then, he’s recruited such crowd-pleasing acts as Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Nas onto an average tally of 31 guest features per album.
