The World Economic Forum Warns Of Polycrises

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There are a handful of insightful reports I look forward to every year. The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report is one of them. This year’s report is based on interviews with over 1,200 experts across academia, business, government, the international community and civil society. “’Global risk’” is defined as the possibility of the occurrence of an event or condition which, if it occurs, would negatively impact a significant proportion of global GDP, population or natural resources. The report lists the leading risks that are currently manifesting themselves. But it also looks at what the most important risks are likely to be in the short term - a horizon of two years, and the long term, over the next ten years. Current Global Risks Regular readers of the news should not be surprised to see the energy supply crisis, the cost-of-living crisis; and rising inflation as the top three risks. Interestingly, the … [Read more...] about The World Economic Forum Warns Of Polycrises

January inflation seen heating up to high of 8.3%

February 1, 2023 by business.inquirer.net

AFP file photo Inflation in the Philippines may have further accelerated in January as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) expects the month’s average to range from 7.5 percent to 8.3 percent, with a chance of surpassing December’s 8.1 percent that was thought to have been the peak. The BSP said in a statement that increases in electricity rates, prices of petroleum products and key food items, as well as the approval of the increases in water rates and the annual rise in “sin” taxes were likely the factors behind the higher inflation rate. These factors would have overwhelmed the ones that, on the other hand, were pulling down prices such as lowered prices of cooking gas or LPG and the appreciation of the Philippine peso against the US dollar. The peso closed at 54.64:$1 on Jan. 31, which was P1.11 less than 55.755:$1 on Dec. 31, 2022. However, Fitch Solutions said in a commentary that the rate of growth in the prices of goods and services in the Philippines is expected … [Read more...] about January inflation seen heating up to high of 8.3%

Before A World Cup, Ida Sports Rivals Nike And Others To Give Women Suitable Soccer Boots

January 31, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Ida Sports, the company cofounded by Laura Youngson to provide the best women’s soccer boots on the market, knows its stuff. It’s a good thing, too, because not every renowned brand can readily offer comfortable, suitable footwear for females, whether they are professionals or girls making their first inroads into the game. Approaching a Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand—another landmark occasion for women’s soccer—some stars will not have the ideal products. Equally significant is the lack of suitable cleats available to the mainstream audience, with labels still providing substandard, unisex options in a year when interest in playing could peak again. On the topic of peaks, Youngson’s vision for better boots crystalized at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, in 2017, while playing in the highest-altitude soccer match on land with Equal Playing Field. Six years later, Ida has backing from Elysian Park … [Read more...] about Before A World Cup, Ida Sports Rivals Nike And Others To Give Women Suitable Soccer Boots

It cited the Renewables 2022 Global Status Report to further state that during the period 2014-2021, total investment in renewables stood at $78.1 billion in India. The government also said that 62 percent of India’s total installed capacity will be from non-fossil fuel by 2029-30.
