We asked 14 people on the streets of New York City what they would do with $US1 million. Most people said they would help out family members or invest the money in real estate or the stock market. We also asked “What’s the best thing you’ve splurged on?” – some people said vacations and others said necessities like groceries. Depending on where you are, $US1 million can either be a lot of money, or very little. New York City is one of the most expensive places to live. At one point, Freidman owned more than 800 taxi medallions, the metal plates on the hoods of yellow cabs that allow them to operate legally on the New York City streets. But in the past few years, Freidman has experienced a precipitous fall. Freidman has reportedly agreeed to cooperate with the US government as a potential witness against his longtime business partner, Michael Cohen as part of a plea deal. The deal with prosecutors may have resounding implications not just for himself, but for special counsel Robert Mueller and his ongoing Russia probe.
