In the Broncos’ Bizarro World, up popped The Odd Couple of Johnny Bowlen and Vance Joseph.“The Blood of the City’’ and “The Leader of Men,’’ who each are collecting considerable funds from the franchise for doing nothing and causing trouble, posed for a curious late-night Instagram video in downtown Denver recently. They looked rather glassy-eyed (euphemism) as they joked:“Hey, coach, who are the gangstas?’’ Bowlen said with his arm draped around Joseph inside what has been described as a club. Strip club.“You are,’’ Joseph said while flashing a grin and an odd two-finger sign.“Nah, you are. Tell them the truth.’’“You are.’’“You are. Mike Tomlin and all of us know.’’“You are,’’ Joseph replied“You are. Nothing but the truth.’’You are ignoramuses, Johnny Be Bad and Vance Be Gone.If only Pat Bowlen, who will be voted into … [Read more...] about Woody Paige: Denver Broncos turmoil continues with Johnny Bowlen and Vance Joseph

Carlos Monarrez Detroit Free Press Published 5:00 PM EST Jan 11, 2019 Good riddance, Vic Fangio. The Chicago Bears lost their excellent defensive coordinator this week, when the Denver Broncos hired him as their head coach. Under Fangio this season, Chicago's defense was third overall and first in scoring. Needless to say, the Bears’ loss is the Detroit Lions’ gain. So good riddance and good luck, Vic. And now that you’re out of the NFC North, how about a little horse trading for a certain quarterback you’re fond of? That’s right. Matthew Stafford. The stars could align for a trade that works out well for both teams. The Broncos need a quarterback. The Lions need an edge rusher, and though general manger Bob Quinn believes Stafford could win a Super Bowl in Detroit, he could easily find another quarterback to fit Matt Patricia's careful, balanced, ball-control offense. [ Matthew Stafford is Lions' QB for 2019 and beyond. Here's why ] … [Read more...] about Why Detroit Lions should trade Stafford to Denver Broncos
Paige: Like you, I don’t want Vance Joseph to be the coach next year. Do you think he returns if the Broncos win the last three games, which would mean six wins in seven games? – Harvey (not the invisible rabbit)Harvey: That’s a serious old-school reference. “Harvey’’ was a successful Broadway play, then a popular movie starring Jimmy Stewart, about a man and his presumably imaginary and very intelligent friend, a 6-foot-3 rabbit, or pooka. The play was written even before my time, back in 1944, by Denver’s own Mary Coyle Chase. We have a distant connection. Chase spent her entire life, after being born and raised, in the Baker area just south of downtown. She became a well-known author and playwright after working as a journalist for many years at the old Rocky Mountain News (which much later employed me for seven years).Vance Joseph sorts of reminds me in certain ways of the play’s main character – Elwood P. Dowd, who was harmless … [Read more...] about Woody’s Denver Broncos Mailbag
In the Broncos’ Bizarro World, is it possible that backup Chad Kelly could be replaced by the quarterback he replaced?A dependable source said Wednesday afternoon team executives are considering re-signing Paxton Lynch, the former No. 1 draft choice who was released just before the regular season. As the Broncos’ players returned to Dove Valley to begin preparations for the next game, Kelly was departing permanently.Meanwhile, the Chiefs are laughing in Kansas City and awaiting the discombobulated Broncos.Kelly appeared Wednesday morning for a preliminary hearing at the Arapahoe County Courthouse, which is located only a few football fields from the Broncos’ headquarters in Centennial. Former Broncos players and a team executive have spent time in that jail and could see the practice field from the cells. The hearing lasted just two minutes, and the date for a formal hearing, following the district attorney’s investigation, was set by the judge for Nov. 8. Kelly … [Read more...] about Woody Paige: Denver Broncos QB Chad Kelly booted after latest of series of issues; is Paxton Lynch in picture?

It’s my father. Unfortunately, he can’t be involved in the day-to-day of the team,” Brittany Bowlen said. “I do have ambitions and goals to one day becoming the controlling owner of the Denver Broncos.
