- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29): Shares of Malaysia Pacific Corp Bhd will be delisted from Bursa Malaysia on Oct 4, after Bursa Securities dismissed its appeal following the rejection of its application for another deadline extension to submit a new regularisation plan. The company, who fell into Practice Note 17 (PN17) status back in 2014, had applied for another six-month extension for the submission. In a filing, Bursa Securities said the decision was made as MPCorp has not demonstrated material developments towards the plans finalisation, and that adequate time has been accorded for the purpose. “Since the First Announcement on Nov 28, 2014, MPCorp has had approximately 7 years and 10 months to regularise the company’s financial condition in accordance with paragraph 8.04 of the Main Market Listing Requirement and PN17. “The company has yet to finalise and execute the revised supplementary settlement agreement (SSA) with AmanahRaya Development Sdn Bhd … [Read more...] about MPCorp to be delisted on Oct 4, seven years after falling into PN17 status

Indian Army soldiers display their way of long-range patrolling along the LoC during a media trip to their area in Balakot in Poonch. (Image: AP Photo/Channi Anand) It’s now official. The Government of India has all but admitted it bungled the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). This follows a pattern of ill-considered decisions, with poor preparation and planning, and no understanding of second- or third-order effects. Unlike its normal mistakes which it doubles down on however, it’s seeming rethink on the CDS and the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is a step that should be encouraged. Clearly the inter-departmental and inter-service rivalry have gone beyond ‘collegiality’ to absolute toxicity, and a refusal to comply or share. Case in point the division of responsibility between the DMA and the Department of Defence, and the complete stalling of the theatre commands, which was meant to be the showpiece of these ‘reforms’. We’re hearing that this along with several other … [Read more...] about Government’s rethink on role of Chief of Defence Staff is a step in the right direction
Former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York has announced a return to politics, per a new video posted online on Wednesday. “I am starting a new political action committee to elect the right people to office. We do not need more panderers, we need producers,” Cuomo said in the video, which was posted on Vimeo by Rich Azzopardi, Cuomo’s longtime aide. He also said he was starting the “Gun Safe America project,” which he said he would address later, adding that “I do not believe our federal government has the courage or capacity to make real progress.” Let’s do it, let’s do it together. https://t.co/MIXwqEjqTE — Andrew Cuomo (@andrewcuomo) September 28, 2022 Cuomo’s announcement of new political activity comes over a year after he resigned in disgrace on Aug. 23, 2021. In 2020 and 2021, Cuomo was accused by several women – including his former aides, political consultants, and a State Police trooper assigned to his protective detail – of sexual harassment, prompting … [Read more...] about Comeback: Disgraced Former NY Governor Plans To Start A Podcast And A PAC
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin With its shares down about 93% from their 2014 high, can Bed Bath & Beyond BBBY execute a turnaround plan before it burns through its cash? That’s the question that comes to my mind after the retailer reported a 28% drop in revenue and a loss that topped expectations in its August-ending quarter. The primary reason for the sorry condition of this retailer is a failed bet that a private label strategy that helped turn around Target TGT would boost BBBY’s growth. The Wall Street Journal reports that as of mid-September, about 39.3% of its float is sold short — a considerable wager that BBBY’s shares have further to fall. That looks like it could be a profitable bet. (I have no financial interest in the securities mentioned in this post). BBBY’s Bad Fiscal Q2 Report BBBY sales dropped 28% and it reported a bigger than expected loss in the fiscal second quarter. According to CNBC , the … [Read more...] about After 28% Drop In Revenue, Bed Bath & Beyond Stock Needs A Markdown
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin XpresSpa Group (NASDAQ: XSPA) stock has been galloping after the company got the nod to conduct Covid-19 tests at the airports. And the company’s recent $40 million capital raise should give it the flexibility to deal with a possible Covid induced recession. The company has gained a massive 17x since mid-March but the company’s existing business model - which includes spa services at airports - will remain under considerable pressure in the near- to mid-term due to the travel restrictions imposed across the globe. A Covid recession will impact the company’s revenues, cash flows, and other liquidity reserves. Trefis analyzes the Impact Of The Covid-19 Recession On XpresSpa in an interactive dashboard with a focus on the company’s liquidity reserves and concludes that the recent direct equity offering of $40 million should be more than enough for the company to tide over the Covid recession. Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When the NBA announced that it would take Election Day (November 8, 2022) off from games and practices, and dedicate play on November 7 as a “civic engagement night” to encourage fans to vote, many people saw it as just a natural next step for a league that has led the way in social justice and accountability. The NBA’s decision is a powerful one, but it’s only the most visible example of the important work being done across the country through civic coalitions, organizations, and communities that are working to invigorate civic engagement into all facets or campus life, including college athletics. Civic engagement among athletes is not a new phenomenon. Olympians have taken an active social and political stance since the first games in 1896, professional athletes such as beloved athletes such as “the greatest'' Mohammed Ali, NBA star Bill Russell, Billie Jean King, the WNBA, among many others. What is newer, and … [Read more...] about Growing Athletes And Voters
