Why ‘Creative Destruction’ Might Be Your Business’ Missing Piece

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Of the many things that can bring about the end of a business, few can be more lethal than stagnation — not changing or improving. As General Electric’s former CEO and management guru Jack Welch explained , this lack of inertia or momentum was one of the most dangerous things that could happen to a business: “When I try to summarize what I’ve learned since 1981, one of the big lessons is that change has no constituency. People like the status quo. They like the way it was. When you start changing things, the good old days look better and better. You’ve got to be prepared for massive resistance.” So how do you keep your own business from falling into stagnation? The solution very likely lies in the concept of creative destruction. With proper implementation, creative destruction can prove to be the missing piece your business needs to stand out from its competition in a meaningful way. Understanding Creative … [Read more...] about Why ‘Creative Destruction’ Might Be Your Business’ Missing Piece

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Ozi Amanat is an international investor, venture capitalist and founder at K2 Global . I asked ChatGPT its opinion about artificial intelligence (AI) systems in today’s society, and this is what it had to say: As an artificial intelligence language model, I do not have personal opinions or beliefs. However, I can provide an objective analysis of AI systems in today's society. AI has brought about numerous benefits to society, such as improved efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making processes. It has also contributed to advancements in medical research, transportation, and various other industries. However, the deployment of AI systems in today's society also presents potential risks, such as job displacement, privacy concerns, and the possibility of biased algorithms. Practical Principles For Your Company’s Path To Personalization (Part One)

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin John Thomas serves as chief strategy and innovation officer at Relay Network , a complete customer engagement solution for the enterprise. Much has been written recently on how companies can better personalize the customer experience. Many consumers expect personalization, and executives want to deliver personalization to their customers. Yet, some companies continue to struggle with exactly how to translate personalization from a strategy deck to actual customer interactions at a reasonable cost and time frame and at scale. I’ve found the scholarly articles that suggest capturing more data, using it better in real time, driving segments and personas, and delivering more relevant content often fall short of how exactly to put these ideas into practice considering data and infrastructure realities. Truth is, I’ve had the opportunity to work on personalization across four different industries in the last 10 … [Read more...] about Practical Principles For Your Company’s Path To Personalization (Part One)

Wyndham Hotels Grabs A Windfall From America’s Infrastructure Agenda

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

With thousands of construction workers and contractors needing long-term housing, the world’s largest hotel franchisor is launching a new brand for the booming boots-and-hardhat market. G eoff Ballotti is staring at a map on his office wall and likes what he sees. Nearly two dozen dots sprinkled across the United States represent future semiconductor factories. Outside of the microchip sector, few executives would seek out such a stodgy map from the Semiconductor Industry Association, let alone hang it on a wall. But for the CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (2022 revenue: $1.56 billion), each dot on that map represents a giant, flashing-light opportunity. Ballotti quickly rattles off examples of locations where new chip factories are slated to appear. Intel is building two plants in Chandler, Arizona, at around $30 billion a pop. In Texas, plants have been announced by Texas Instruments in Sherman ($30 billion) and by Samsung in Taylor ($25 billion). In Indiana, they are … [Read more...] about Wyndham Hotels Grabs A Windfall From America’s Infrastructure Agenda

Elon Musk Expects About $20 Billion Loss on Twitter Investment

March 27, 2023 by www.investopedia.com

Twitter may be worth half of what Elon Musk paid for it, a sign that the social platform's legal struggles could be taking a toll. Key Takeaways Elon Musk has said Twitter can be profitable as early as the second quarter. In a leaked memo, Musk said the company was worth $20 billion. The company is facing costly legal battles as former employees, vendors, and regulators. Regulators in the U.S. and European Union are also unhappy with the social media firm's practices. Musk claims Twitter can be profitable by the second quarter after he made sweeping changes to the company after he purchased it last year for $44 billion. However, the Tesla ( TSLA ) founder said the company is likely worth half that figure, in a memo reviewed by the Wall Street Journal Sunday. Twitter is facing headwinds from advertisers as they pull back in an uncertain economy, dragging down the company's valuation. Changes made under Musk's guidance have also shaken the confidence of … [Read more...] about Elon Musk Expects About $20 Billion Loss on Twitter Investment

The $15-B scramble for Japan’s Toshiba went from bang to whimper

March 28, 2023 by business.inquirer.net

TOKYO  -Toshiba Corp’s auction was supposed to ignite a race for top-dollar bids among global private equity firms. Instead, it brought months of uncertainty and a solitary, scaled-back offer from the company’s business partners in Japan. The $15-billion bid, led by domestic buyout firm Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) and accepted by Toshiba’s board last week, could finally end years of exhausting battles with activist shareholders that sparked management reshuffles and strategy reversals. Less certain is whether the deal can revive the 147-year-old conglomerate, which has never fully recovered from a 2015 accounting scandal and the bankruptcy of U.S. unit Westinghouse two years later. The long-running crisis at Japan’s Toshiba Major activist shareholders are expected to exit, people familiar with the matter said. Some, including top shareholder Effissimo Capital Management, could make huge profits, having bought their shares cheaply in a 2017 bailout. Other investors may … [Read more...] about The $15-B scramble for Japan’s Toshiba went from bang to whimper
