Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There are places celebrities go to be seen, and there are rare places where celebrities go not to be seen. There is only one place, though, that has elegantly enveloped celebrities into its 12 acre seemingly secret garden for more than 70 years: The Hotel Bel-Air. The Prince of Wales supposedly said, “I slept better in the Presidential Suite of the Bel Air than in any other hotel in the world. Tom Cruise once remarked: “I’ve lived at Hotel Bel-Air, and I always feel very comfortable there.” What is it about this classic hotel, complete with gliding swans, no less, that endures as Hollywood’s haven? On a recent stay at the Hotel Bel-Air, I think I uncovered it. The top quality required to endure as a celebrity sanctuary: discretion by design. While located only a mile or so off of Sunset Blvd, the drive to the Hotel Bel-Air is nondescript along a narrow road marked by colossal hedges and fancy gates that shroud the mansions … [Read more...] about Every Celebrities’ Favorite Home: The Irresistible Hotel Bel-Air

SOCOM’s Armed Overwatch Demonstration Could Cultivate Interest In An Air Tractor-Based Sky Warden
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In rural areas of Africa where U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) says it’s looking for an armed ISR airplane to replace the Pilatus PC-12-based UC-28 Dracos it currently flies, the Sky Warden wouldn’t look out of place. It’s based on Air Tractor’s familiar AT-802 agricultural application airplane. About 36 of these “crop dusters” already operate on the continent. That could be a factor in the selection of a Draco replacement if SOCOM’s Armed Overwatch acquisition gets funding. Earlier this month, SOCOM awarded five companies a total of $19.2 million to demonstrate potential low-cost aircraft to fly surveillance and deliver strikes in austere locations like Africa. The potential “armed overwatch” role such an airplane would fill is seen by some observers as an extension of the Air Force’s aborted Light Attack aircraft program (2009-2020). Congress was wary of that effort and views Armed Overwatch with a … [Read more...] about SOCOM’s Armed Overwatch Demonstration Could Cultivate Interest In An Air Tractor-Based Sky Warden

Bad Film Reviews Sink BatGirl Even Before It Opens
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Just as the film was in post-production, management at Warner Bros Discovery decided to pull the plug on the DC Comics film BatGirl, despite it having a reported budget of more than $100 million and stars Leslie Grace, Brendan Fraser, Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons. The reviews must have been so bad that management felt that to even give it a streaming release on HBO Max, which would cost virtually nothing, was not worth the risk as it could tarnish the brand. Instead of reshooting the parts that got unfavorable reviews from test panels, Warner decided that they would just eat the cost of production. At the same time, they also gave thumbs down to airing the animated film “Scoobi! Holiday Haunt” which was estimated to have a $40 million budget. The move shows that President & CEO David Zaslav is not afraid to quickly pull the trigger on something he thinks will not work with the audience, something he already … [Read more...] about Bad Film Reviews Sink BatGirl Even Before It Opens
