Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Social media is filled with countless scammers trying to capitalize on Elon Musk’s name. Just take a look under any of Musk’s tweets and you’ll see people promising crypto giveaways, which are actually just scams that siphon money away from users. But does anyone actually fall for these? Yes, they really do. And I’ve obtained the stories to prove it. I often file Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the FTC to learn about different complaints that consumers have with particular companies. Previously I’ve done this with FTX , Tinder and Canon just to name a few. It’s an interesting way to learn about customer service problems. But when I recently filed a FOIA request for complaints about Tesla, I received some documents that I didn’t expect. Many of the complaints were about Tesla, of course, and issues people were having with their cars, warranties and financing. But consumers were also complaining about … [Read more...] about 25 Elon Musk Impersonator Scams On Social Media People Actually Fell For

Elon Musk wasn’t invited to World Economic Forum meeting at Davos, say organisers
The World Economic Forum says billionaire Elon Musk wasn't on the guest list for the annual meeting of business executives, global leaders and cultural trend-setters in Davos, Switzerland despite what the Twitter owner claims. Notables from European Union chief Ursula von der Leyen to actor Idris Elba are gathering in the ritzy Alpine town this week to talk about global issues ranging from war to climate change and technology's effects on security. Elon Musk wasn't there, though he says he was invited. Forum spokesman Yann Zopf knocked that down Tuesday, saying the last time the Tesla CEO got an invitation was “not this year and not recently - last time in 2015.” Musk said in a tweet Dec. 22: “My reason for declining the Davos invitation was not because I thought they were engaged in diabolical scheming, but because it sounded boring af lol.” He didn’t specify when he got the invitation, but the tweet's timing suggested it was for this year. Musk did not immediately … [Read more...] about Elon Musk wasn’t invited to World Economic Forum meeting at Davos, say organisers
AI Ethical Risks In the Music Industry Are Accelerating And We Are Not Ready For What Is Coming Our Way
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I wrote two articles over the weekend researching the impact of AI on the Music Industry as one of the art domains being impacted by AI. You can read both of these blogs here: The first article focuses on Google’s recent MusicLM announcement and the risks without increased copyright law in place. The second article continues this discussion but broadens it with other examples. The more I dug into this area, I realized how much is at stake and the risks to our Arts Community and to all the musicians who bring so much joy to our lives. However, there is trouble afoot and it’s increasing. Why do a career in music and spend years mastering a craft when an AI model will eventually be able to consistently produce an award winning master piece? It’s simply a matter of time. Yes, I appreciate that creative capabilities of an AI model is not close to reality as Meta Chief Data Scientist, Yann Lecun, said to … [Read more...] about AI Ethical Risks In the Music Industry Are Accelerating And We Are Not Ready For What Is Coming Our Way
This new site uses AI to let you create the brand mashups of your dreams
Branded is a weekly column devoted to the intersection of marketing, business, design, and culture. Imagine Microsoft collaborating with The Hundreds on a hoodie . Or Warby Parker executing a sneaker in collaboration with WD-40. Or a Little Caesars x Hello Kitty skateboard . As popular as the brand-collab trend has become over the years, none of these mashups are likely to happen. But you can glimpse what they might look like, and even read marketing copy theoretically “announcing” them, thanks to a real collaboration—between branding expert Noah Brier and the artificial intelligence tools available from OpenAI . Brier, a writer and self-dubbed “general internet tinkerer” who has worked in and around marketing for years, has long been interested in the intersection of branding and technology. That’s what led him to create BrXnd.ai , which uses artificial intelligence to depict imaginary brand team-ups, however improbable. And as of today, Brier is … [Read more...] about This new site uses AI to let you create the brand mashups of your dreams
5 ways employers use AI to evaluate your career potential
Compared to other species, humans are very intelligent (at least according to humans). Leaving aside comparisons with other members of the animal kingdom, one thing is clear: Our intelligence has enabled us to create intelligent machines, including ingenious technologies capable of examining our own intelligence and even our wider career potential. An influential innovation in this area is artificial intelligence (AI), in particular machine learning algorithms, which have the capacity to detect hidden patterns in data sets and train themselves to predict a wide range of behavioral outcomes, including people’s likelihood to get hired, fired, or promoted in a given organization. Although this technology is not widely used today, it is gaining traction among employers, in particular large organizations, because they are awash with data on jobseekers, employees, and managers. Most innovations start life as niche or small-case activities, which at some point become mainstream. … [Read more...] about 5 ways employers use AI to evaluate your career potential
What Does It Take For Enterprises To Succeed In The Digital Age?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Digital transformation has become a business imperative in the wake of the pandemic. Companies that have not modernized their processes and integrated cloud and analytics capabilities are severely disadvantaged. Genpact's latest study, "Data-Driven Business Transformation ,” reveals that only 8% of enterprises have fully modernized. This digital divide will result in those companies who can move quickly and take advantage of new opportunities, leaving behind those who are not. In addition to Genpact, Peak's latest report, "State of AI 2022 ," revealed that 55% of enterprises will be AI-First by 2025. Yet, despite the clear advantages of AI integration, only 35% of c-suite executives have plans to implement it. According to Peak's CEO, Richard Potter, "AI is inherently a data technology and must function as part of an overarching data strategy, yet most respondents in this survey are thinking about the two separately." … [Read more...] about What Does It Take For Enterprises To Succeed In The Digital Age?
Twitter working on payments feature
Twitter Inc is working to introduce payments on the social media platform and has begun applying for regulatory licenses, the Financial Times reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. New boss Elon Musk is pushing Twitter to create new streams of revenue as it faces a drop in advertising income, following his $44-billion takeover of the company in October. The development on the payments feature is being led Esther Crawford, a director of product management at Twitter, according to the report, which added that the executive was emerging to be a key lieutenant to Musk. Twitter did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Musk had previously said that the Twitter acquisition would be part of a master plan to create "the everything app", a service that would offer social networking, peer-to-peer payments and e-commerce shopping. Funnycontrol | Joshimath and that sinking feeling
Bull runs have their ups and downs, too. (Photo: Isaw Company via Pexels) I love taking trips to Uttarakhand. A lot of people often look for a different kind of trip there, but it’s not the kind you can mention on Tripadvisor. Joshimath a holy town in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. If Joshimath were a person, it would be Jerome Powell. Because poor old Jerome has been repeatedly telling the markets: “We are sinking and there are no lifeboats. And you’re on board the inflation Titanic.” The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has released satellite images of Joshimath and a preliminary report on land subsidence which shows that the entire town may sink. Luckily in India you can pray to the Gods to sink everyone else except your own community. Scientists are still studying the cracks that have appeared in the houses and roads due to land subsidence in the town. … [Read more...] about Funnycontrol | Joshimath and that sinking feeling
Climate untruth surges in denial, conspiracy comeback
Roland Lloyd Parry (Agence France-Presse) (The Jakarta Post) PREMIUM Paris ● Wed, February 1 2023 False information about climate change flourished online over the past year, researchers say, with denialist social media posts and conspiracy theories surging after the United States’ environmental reforms and Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. “What really surprised us this year was to see a resurgence in language that is reminiscent of the 1980s, phrases like ‘climate hoax’ and ‘climate scam’ that deny the phenomenon of climate change,” said Jennie King, head of civic action at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a London-based digital research group. Popular topics included the false claims that CO2 did not cause climate change or that global warming was not caused by human activity, Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD), a coalition of campaigners, said in a report. to Read Full Story SUBSCRIBE NOW Starting from IDR 55,500/month Unlimited … [Read more...] about Climate untruth surges in denial, conspiracy comeback
Marketing Musings: What’s a media brand—the message or the messenger
In general, the media followed the principle of division between the church and the state, where managerial and editorial control were separated. (Representational image) Highlights The takeover of NDTV has created a flutter of excitement The problem lies with the excessive identification of the product with personality Which is more important here, the brand or the image of the owner? Twitter under Elon Musk faces the same dilemma If the chef changes but the restaurant maintains the same standard of food, would loyal customers continue to patronise the place or move somewhere else? Perhaps the solution is a hands-off approach, where having once appointed a master-chef, she or he... … [Read more...] about Marketing Musings: What’s a media brand—the message or the messenger
