Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin President Biden has used his budget proposal to Congress to position himself as a champion of Medicare and Social Security. Even before the budget’s official release, Biden took to the guest essay pages of the New York Times NYT to outline his plans to tackle Medicare’s looming insolvency. It’s good that the administration is at least acknowledging the need for action to shore up the finances of these vital social insurance programs and has offered a few concrete proposals to do so. But the specifics of his plan are both convoluted and problematic, and the large shortfalls that would remain even if the president could enact his policy wishlist make clear the need for policymakers to consider a much broader menu of options. Biden’s Medicare proposals are largely limited to increasing revenue for the Hospital Insurance (HI) Trust Fund, which finances Part A benefits (hospital services, nursing facilities, home … [Read more...] about The Biden Budget’s Medicare Mirage

Study Shows Why Hybrid Work Will Triumph Over The Return To Office
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Even though Amazon, Disney, Apple, and now potentially Meta are forcing employees to return to office, a recent survey conducted by IWG reveals why hybrid work will win over the return to office. The survey assessed the views and preferences of 1,015 full-time hybrid workers in the U.S. in February 2023. As a global future of work expert who helped 22 companies transition to hybrid and remote work, their data aligns with internal survey results I saw inside my clients. That’s why the return to a traditional office schedule of M-F 9-5 will not be successful, and non-frontline employees will be largely hybrid in the medium and long term. The Value of Hybrid Work: Willing to Sacrifice Salary The survey found that 67% of respondents would be willing to give up some amount of salary to maintain their hybrid work arrangement, with an average amount of $13,000. This underscores the importance of hybrid work to employees, … [Read more...] about Study Shows Why Hybrid Work Will Triumph Over The Return To Office
Banking Turmoil, Cost Cuts, Layoffs And More: How To Manage Through The Current Gloom And Doom
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A senior executive texted me a couple hours before writing this article and encapsulated the present angst in corporate America. “How do I resist going to the dark side during these cost-cutting convos?" she asked. It seemed like it had only been a matter of months since her company pivoted from ambitious long-term goals to short-term contraction. Leaders aren’t alone in feeling more than a little disoriented. After an optimistic start to the year, economic headwinds are building once more as inflation remains stubborn at about 6.4%, higher than the 3.3% long-term average. And that doesn’t even consider what’s happening with banks . The turbulence is prompting CEOs to cut jobs and clamp down on other spending. Given the atmosphere, it’s easy to get the wrong message and overcorrect. Yet, the medium-term market outlook still looks good and many CEOs view current business streamlining as necessary to better … [Read more...] about Banking Turmoil, Cost Cuts, Layoffs And More: How To Manage Through The Current Gloom And Doom
Thai woman accuses RTP of kidnapping, extorting 1 million baht from her boss
Photo via Facebook/ Toko The Royal Thai Police (RTP) are in the headlines once again for all the wrong reasons after a Thai woman accused RTP officers of kidnapping and extorting 1 million baht from her boss in the Din Daeng district of Bangkok . Police reported that initial CCTV footage revealed that two of the men in the criminal group looked similar to Immigration Bureau police inspectors but it wasn’t conclusive. Namee Saelee filed a complaint at Din Daeng Police Station yesterday, reporting that she and her Chinese employer, 62 year old Qi, were kidnapped on Friday, March 10, by a gang of six men, who looked like RTP officers. The 38 year old Thai woman revealed that she had been hired by Qi as an interpreter to help him with his passport and visa renewal at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex on the day of the kidnapping. Namee met Qi at his house in Soi Pracha Songkhro 2 in the Din Deang district of Bangkok and Qi’s friend drove them to the visa … [Read more...] about Thai woman accuses RTP of kidnapping, extorting 1 million baht from her boss

Student Loan Forgiveness Timeline And Deadlines Change Again In New Updates To One-Time Adjustment
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Biden administration has again updated key deadlines and the overall timeline for borrowers hoping to receive student loan forgiveness under a one-time IDR account adjustment . No formal announcement accompanied the quiet change to current Education Department guidance , which occurred this week. Here’s what borrowers should know. IDR Account Adjustment Can Provide Student Loan Forgiveness Benefits Last year, the Biden administration announced the IDR Account Adjustment, a sweeping one-time fix to address ongoing issues with federal Income Driven Repayment (IDR) plans. IDR, which describes a collection of individual plans, allows borrowers to make payments on their federal student loans according to a formula based on their income and family size. IDR plans can also result in student loan forgiveness for any remaining unpaid balance after 20 or 25 years, depending on the specific plan. What Brands Need To Know: Marketing Measurement And Attribution In 2023
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Among the advertising shifts seen in the past few years, including across social and search and display marketing, the farthest-reaching may be those due to changes in attribution and measurement. And as sustainable paid media scale has become harder to achieve in certain channels, brands must improve their ability to identify the advertising vehicles that drive contribution, not just attribution. This means they need increased visibility into the drivers of their revenue that’s not only incremental but also maintains profit margins. But this likely will happen on an aggregated basis, rather at an individual-user level. “With less visibility into attributable conversions, brands are moving away from looking at platform attribution as their true north and instead focusing on more holistic metrics like customer acquisition cost (CAC) and incrementality,” says Megan Conahan, EVP at Direct Agents , known for its digital … [Read more...] about What Brands Need To Know: Marketing Measurement And Attribution In 2023
Revenue Operations Is The Fastest Growing Job In America. So What Is Revenue Operations?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Revenue Operations has emerged as the fastest growing job in the US right now according to jobs analysis by Linked In. But a quick Google search will tell you nobody really agrees on what Revenue Operations is. Few can define it. Our analysis of hundreds of RevOps job descriptions, and discussions with over seventy executives who carry the Revenue Operations moniker in their title – it’s pretty clear that no one job description is the same. Rather, Revenue Operations describes a conflation of a dozen or more historically fragmented functions and roles – Sales Operations, Sales Enablement, Marketing Operations, Customer Analytics, as well as Training and Development. That may sound random. But that’s the fundamental point of Revenue Operations. At the highest level, the primary goal of a Revenue Operations leader is to unify and align the operations, systems, and data that support revenue teams along the entire … [Read more...] about Revenue Operations Is The Fastest Growing Job In America.
