Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), chair of the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, said the committee does not expect to call former President Donald Trump or former Vice President Mike Pence as witnesses, Politico reporter Kyle Cheney said on Twitter on Tuesday, marking a shift from earlier statements that Trump was not off-limits from the committee’s subpoenas. Key Facts Thompson remarked it was unclear whether speaking to Trump would shed any new light on evidence already obtained by the committee, Cheney tweeted . Thompson said that, though the committee doesn’t plan to call Pence as a witness, it is in talks with representatives for Pence, according to Cheney. These comments marked a shift in tone from October, when Thompson told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer that “nobody is off limits” from the committee’s subpoenas. Pentagon reports increase in UFO numbers over last 20 years

May 18, 2022 by thethaiger.com

US officials say the number of unidentified flying objects reported in the last 20 years has increased, according to an AFP report. Scott Bray, a director of Naval intelligence, says there has been an increase in the numbers of unidentified objects in certain areas. “Since the early 2000s, we have seen an increasing number of unauthorised and/or unidentified aircraft or objects in military-controlled training areas and training ranges and other designated airspace.” Bray says the US military’s efforts to remove the stigma from reporting UFOs could well be behind the increase. It can also be attributed to advances in technology. However, Bray insists the Pentagon has not found anything to suggest that the objects are not from this planet. Hedging his bets however, he hasn’t ruled out that possibility. “We’ve made no assumptions about what this is or isn’t.” According to the AFP report, in June of last year, a report released by US intelligence officials claimed there was no … [Read more...] about Pentagon reports increase in UFO numbers over last 20 years

"The applications you have made today are an historic step. Allies will now consider the next steps on your path to NATO," NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said, after receiving the bids from the Finnish and Swedish ambassadors at the alliance's headquarters. The membership push could represent the most significant expansion of NATO in decades, doubling its border with Russia, and President Vladimir Putin has warned it may trigger a response from Moscow. But the applications face resistance from NATO member Turkey, which has threatened to block them over accusations the Nordic neighbours act as safe havens for armed groups opposed to … [Read more...] about Finland, Sweden hand in applications to join NATO
