Picture: DENISE BRADLEY Archant A handful of the most influential names in Norfolk’s economy will be coming together for the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce’s Big Debate. Chloe Smith, Sir Henry Bellingham, George Freeman, and Norman Lamb, will all be taking part in the debate held at OPEN on February 8, along with Fiona Ryder of TCD Media, Jeanette Wheeler of Birketts, Stuart Rimmer of East Coast College and Tom McCabe of Norfolk County Council. The panel will debate topics from the perception of the county, diversity, to skills and Brexit. This year a new format will be introduced where following the debate, the floor is opened up to attendees to query their MPs and council members. Leigh and Darran Gould come from a family of hairdressers, and opened their first outlet in Gaywood in 2013. Picture: ANTONY KELLY Archant Norfolk 2013 An award-winning champion Norfolk farmers’ leader and a respected horse breeder around the world, Tom Crane, has died at his Oxnead home aged 88. He built up a formidable farming operation and founded one of the country’s top Haflinger studs.Elected chairman of Norfolk National Farmers’ Union (NFU) in 1982, he was made OBE in the 1988 new year’s honours for his contribution to the agricultural industry.At one stage, he ran 18 different enterprises including chickens, rearing pigs and arable enterprises including sugar beet, potatoes, peas and beans on farms at Booton, Oxnead, Marsham and Beccles.A farmer’s son, Thomas George Crane went to Bracondale School, Norwich, and left aged 14 in March 1945.
