Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin 2K hosted a developer session featuring executive gameplay producer Mike Wang on Tuesday, August 2. During the hour-long session, myself and a group of journalist learned about most of the new gameplay features coming to NBA 2K23. Many of the other features were provided to us in an advance look at the first Courtside Report, which you can read here . There are several potentially impactful changes coming to the game this year. Here are the 10 that stood out most from the presentation. Double Pro-Stick Flicks NBA 2K23 will introduce new gameplay commands called double throws and switchbacks. Double throws are two, quick successive flicks of the right stick (which have different high-level attacks and actions attached) and a switchback is a flick in one direction, followed by a quick flick in the opposite direction. A different set of attacks and actions will be attached to that mechanic. The new rim-hang … [Read more...] about NBA 2K23 Gameplay Info: 10 Things That Stood Out During Virtual Dev Sessions

‘Overwatch 2’ Won’t Have Another Beta Before Launch
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Until now, it had been widely expected that there would be one more Overwatch 2 PVP beta before the sequel launches on October 4. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case, according to Overwatch commercial leader and vice-president Jon Spector. “Today marks just 2 months until Overwatch 2 's launch! We know players are eager to dive in and have seen questions about the possibility of a third public beta,” Spector wrote on Twitter. “While we will continue testing OW2 daily internally, we're not planning any additional public beta tests. With all the valuable feedback we received from our alpha and 2 public beta tests, we will be focusing all our efforts on launching the best game possible on October 4.” I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it stinks that those who missed out on the first two betas will need to wait another two months before getting the chance to check out the game. In addition, it … [Read more...] about ‘Overwatch 2’ Won’t Have Another Beta Before Launch
What’s Going On With This ‘MultiVersus’ Season 1 And Morty Delay?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Bad news for MultiVersus fans today. Player First Games announced that the start of Season 1 is being delayed indefinitely. The cherry on top? The release of the much-hyped fighter Morty—of Rick & Morty fame — is also being delayed. The game has been a pretty big hit since release, gaining a lot of momentum in its open beta phase. It’s basically a Smash Bros clone that trades out Nintendo characters for Warner Bros. and DC characters like Superman, Shaggy and Arya Stark. Also Morty, someday. Valve revealed recently that the game was the most-played title on Steam Deck for the last week of July, topping Stray, Elden Ring and No Man’s Sky. While there’s not an exact release date for Season 1, the developer is extending the pre-season Battle Pass until August 15th, so it doesn’t look like it will be long. Some fans have expressed concern over the delay as it comes right when Warner Bros. … [Read more...] about What’s Going On With This ‘MultiVersus’ Season 1 And Morty Delay?
NBA 2K23: 2K Unveils Details Of Jordan Challenge 2.0
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After spending an hour listening to Visual Concepts executive producers Erick Boenisch and Mike Wang discuss the revamped Jordan Challenge feature coming to NBA 2K23, one thing was clear: a lot of work went into making this redux feel like a new experience. The Jordan Challenge concept was originally introduced ahead of the release of NBA 2K11. Back 12 years ago, the mode took fans on a virtual and interactive tour of some of Jordan’s most iconic moments. Users were tasked with recreating these moments while hitting specific measurables to complete the experience. Most of that remains intact for the NBA 2K23 iteration with a ton more detail and nuance thanks to the use of the more powerful consoles available to gamers in 2022. In an effort to transport the user to the time of the Jordan moment being recreated, 2K has upped the ante on visual and audio presentation. Filters and era-specific television broadcast … [Read more...] about NBA 2K23: 2K Unveils Details Of Jordan Challenge 2.0

The UI of air-conditioning is hell on earth
A few days ago, I almost tore my digital thermostat off the wall because I couldn’t understand its demonic user interface. I had no manual for it, and I couldn’t find it on the internet. So, boiling with Joe Pesci fury, I couldn’t stop fantasizing about ways to retaliate against the sadistic monster who designed this horror. advertisement advertisement Central air-conditioning came with the apartment I’m renting and, while I like staying cool, I hate its interface with the fury of a thousand suns—which, coincidentally, is exactly the temperature of Madrid, where I live these days. I didn’t want to do anything arcane with my thermostat; I simply wanted to program it to optimize the energy consumption because the price of electricity in Spain is now between $1 million and $2 million per watt. Last month, we paid three times our usual bill; I just wanted to use the AC rationally so my family could avoid living in Satan’s sauna without burning down the … [Read more...] about The UI of air-conditioning is hell on earth
