Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Mike McCarthy knew. It was Nov. 29, 2007, and McCarthy’s Green Bay Packers had just suffered a 37-27 loss at Dallas in a match-up of two 10-1 teams. Brett Favre was injured early in that game, Aaron Rodgers came on in relief and performed remarkably well. As McCarthy got on a plane that night to return to the NFL’s smallest city, he knew that whenever Favre decided to hang it up, the Packers would be just fine with Rodgers. “It was clear we weren’t changing,” McCarthy said at the NFL Combine last month. “We didn't pull back on the game plan and Aaron went in there and played extremely well that night. “And I just do recall on the plane ride home, (general manager) Ted (Thompson) and I talking about his performance. Pricey Music NFTs Won’t Boost A Bursting Bubble, But Cheaper Ones Might
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The NFT music party has quieted down a lot since the fireworks of March, when EDM star 3LAU hauled a record-breaking $11.7 million in token sales tied to Ultraviolet , an album he first released three years ago on streaming services. Other music stars have tried and failed to better 3LAU’s historic NFT drop . The buzz word “drop” was imported into crypto markets from dance clubs for the moment of quiet just before the music explodes and the club goes nuts, with the hope that after the opening gavel, NFT bidders will likewise go nuts. But it’s been less nuts lately. Eminem recently dropped “Shady Con,” an NFT set that includes a 30-second drum and synth loop but no rapping, all synched with an animated golden hand that turns around and gives you the middle finger . The artist reportedly grabbed $1.78 million, tame takings next to 3LAU token spree. Maybe a thumbs up would have fared better. A few … [Read more...] about Pricey Music NFTs Won’t Boost A Bursting Bubble, But Cheaper Ones Might
Next-Generation Luxury In The Indian Ocean: Patina Maldives, Fari Islands
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There are many resorts in the Maldives. There is only one that has a James Turrell artwork. More specifically, the new Patina Maldives, Fari Islands has a pavilion envisioned by the American Turrell, who is known for his involvement in the late-20th-century Light and Space art movement. His most famous series is his Skyspace project, a collection of works that frame the night sky. Patina Maldives’ assistant director of marketing and communications, Zainab Hussain Shihab, says that many resort guests—who have traveled all over the world to see other Skyspaces, only to find them full of people—are overcome with emotion when they step all alone into the one-of-a-kind wooden artwork here. Privacy and exclusivity—being alone—are two of the Maldives’ tourism hallmarks. The majority of the islands’ 150 or so luxury resorts are each on a private island. (And when the natural ones all got taken, the developers started making … [Read more...] about Next-Generation Luxury In The Indian Ocean: Patina Maldives, Fari Islands
